So, with the release of Michael Oher, the Panthers have a roster opening.

Any thoughts on who might make a good addition to the team?

Or... predictions on what Marty & company will choose to do?

Do we bring in another tackle to compete in camp, i.e. replace a tackle with a tackle?  I imagine tackle pickings are pretty slim until roster cut downs!

Any well known free agent out there (Gary Barnidge??) you think we have a shot at adding?

I'd be pretty happy if we did sign Barnidge.  But, he may only come at quite a high cost, and that would make me nervous.  But hey, this seems to be the reunion tour, so it may not be too far fetched.

Barnidge for obvious reasons.

Besdies that some vet.

Ryan Clady- atill available. Wouldnt rely him as a starter but a backup and mentor to Williams and Moton, 2 young promising OTs

Anquan Boldin- waiting for the rookie KB to show backup and for Funchess just to show. Color me not impressed at all of Charles Johnson's (the WR) resume. Boldin would be the perfect mentor being a bigger WR to Funchess and KB

The guy Brandon Beane is checking into...

Never should've let Beane leave!

They absolutely should not have let him leave. This situation didn't just happen overnight. If Jerry was feeling like he wanted to make a change, he should have fugin done it right after the season and gave Beane the reins. The fact that he waited shows a huge lack of foresight and poor planning by JR

Agree with previous posters. Barnidge, Boldin, or an OT.

Most likely though, it'll be someone that makes us all say, "Who?"

It's simple, really.. Hurney will give barnidge ten million a year. Olsen will be pissed so then we'll renegotiate with him for 15 million a year. Then we'll have "double trouble: the TE edition" eating up all our cap space. Yay!

I've added a poll...  If you vote other, please add a comment mentioning who you'd pick!

For the record, even though I mentioned Barnidge in my opening comment (and would be happy if we add him), I voted Clady.  I totally had forgotten he is available.  I want better OT depth.

    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
    • I don’t know about shadowing and all that, but according to this, whatever we are doing is working
