Didn't want him fired, but never cared for Gettleman's tendency to scapegoat secondary players.

Boston wasn't a starting caliber safety, but damned if he wouldn't provide some much needed depth right about now.

Seems like that with Gman if you were given a chance to start and didn't pan out in that capacity, you didn't just return to a reserve role, you got straight bounced.

I feel what you are saying, yes we could definitely use Boston right about now.

The issue with having him though is Rivera's ineptitude of sitting players who shouldn't be starting. Who's to say Boston wouldn't be trotting back out there  dominating the snap count even though Adams was brought in?

Better to not even give Rivera the option...even though in hindsight it sucks to not have ANY depth now.

I think we're rolling with LJ McCray and Colin Jones as backup safeties.

LJ ...perhaps

Colin.... Please Noooooo...

I will say dude is hella versatile though, I think I remember him playing Nickle at one point.

We gotta pick up somebody not named Micheal Griffen.

Well, looks like the Panthers will yet again be looking at post cut down day safeties.

How many did they try out last year? 5?

At least it is not looking for potential starter. I'm not sure losing a guy who never made a tackle is a game changer.

As much as I liked and respected Gman, cutting Tre Boston just didn't make sense.

Nope. I could've understood it if we'd added additional veteran depth or added someone through the draft, but Adams was clearly brought in to start. You still need backups. There's no rule that says that once a player has started for you that he can't return to a backup role, but that seemed to be the way Gman operated. Once you were given a chance to earn a starting role, if you didn't workout in that capacity, see ya!! We bounced Kony too, but we also added Peppers and Hall via a 3rd round draft pick.

This place amazes me. I defended Boston on here and it pissed off half the posters on this board, but now Gettleman was a dumb ass for letting him go?

I think everyone forgot about boston HUGE increase in salary, he was due 1.7 million.(around 1.3 in new money). He's not worth that, the rookie contract is wrong.
