Poor Jameis...

Some of you guys must not even watch Jameis Winston play when Carolina plays the Bucs.

Jameis has ALWAYS been extremely talented, has a great arm, and a great feel for extending plays.

Jameis has ALWAYS been good for one or more absolutely god awful, game-changing turnovers a game.

Until Jameis can stop getting in his own way I don't think the Bucs will be able to make a leap to the next level.

Jameis is good, but still inconsistent.  Until he becomes more consistent with his throws and decision-making, he shouldn't be in the elite or MVP conversation.

Now Cam is also inconsistent, but he makes up for it with his legs.  That's what separates their futures, and why Cam absolutely belongs in the elite discussion.

6. It was encouraging to see Jameis Winston (21 of 29 for 196 yards) calmly guide Tampa downfield on back-to-back scoring drives to start the night. Still, the promising field-general made an awful decision on his third series, launching the ball into space while being tugged to the turf at the Jacksonville 11. Winston's duck of a pass looped into the end zone, where it was picked off by Barry Church. Officials nullified the turnover, ruling that Winston's progress was stopped, but it's just the type of decision Koetter will fry his quarterback for on next week's Hard Knocks. Winston nearly threw another pick on the following drive and fumbled a pass attempt before the half that was picked up by teammate Adam Humphries. The box score looks hot, but Thursday was a reminder that one of the league's most promising young quarterbacks still has work to do after generating 41 turnovers over his first two NFL seasons.

James has tons of weapons and a defense that was ranked top 5 in 2016. If he doesn't have a great year he will have no one to blame but himself. He has an offensive minded head coach who has devoted lots of time and resources to his development. There are no excuses.

Jameis has the football smarts, arm and vision. When he's on, he's really, really good. That said, when he gets pressured, he turns into Gabbert. His turnovers are so damn painful.

Not true. Winston was actually one of the best in the league under pressure. Where he gets in trouble is forcing throws, mostly to Evans who was constantly doubled last year.  He is a risk taker also so there is going to be a WTH was he thinking pass or two a game.

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
