Sobering Cam Newton stat...

We need alot more quick throws and short throws , and much less designed runs . Run him on goal line and occasionally call runs for him , but mainly reduce his runs to scrambles when he feels the need to take off himself. More of the same is not going to be good for Cam's long term health no matter how you look at it.

The affect that has on the body  is the biggest story here.

The next guy has to be Russell Wilson. For comparison sake Newton has rushed 689 times in those 6 years. Wilson 483. That extra 206 attempts accounts for a large percentage of extra hits.  Yes, he hasn't had great protection but in comparison he's got 221 sacks to Wilson's 205....6 less per season.  Also Newton is not much for sliding. I'm just trying to look at these numbers to see what really drives them.

Straight stats with no context never really tell the whole story.  Never have been a huge stats guy b/c there are so damn many unpredictable and uncontrollable variables at play in the NFL.  Stats are neat and all, but to really get a good understanding of anything, "deep dives" are necessary.  Which is why I can definitely appreciate you breaking down this stat to see what exactly is going on/driving the number.

I could be wrong, but I'm thinking that Luck is next.

Scary, and not surprising.

Designed runs makes Cam one of the biggest mismatches in the NFL....and got us to a SB...without them, Cam is a good QB, but that little aspect of his game makes him great.

I do wish Cam would learn to go out of bounds, and slide, but that's not him...he's going to take a beating much like the two players I have long compared him to...Favre and Elway.

Not surprised by this at all, considering Cam is by far the most prolific "running" quarterback of all time. Hell he has 48 rushing touchdowns in his career. Are they counting each time someone put their hands on him on a goal line rush?

Outside of teams going the Broncos route of intentionally gunning for his head, I'm not too concerned with Cam taking on contact. The major injuries I can remember in his pro career haven't come from his normal style of play. I think of him hurting his shoulder trying to make a tackle, an ankle injury that bugged him since college, nonchalantly walking into the endzone and taking a pop and cheap shots from Bronco players.

Of course as he gets older the nicks and dings could add up, but I don't see a radical change being all that necessary.

Could be. I was interested to see just how many more runs he had than another runner that's been around consistently for most of that time period.

I don't worry about designed runs at all. Where Cam gets hurt the most is on passing plays.

The hits are cumulative...they pile up on you, and make your job harder.  Cams arm will not stay where it is, Cams feet and legs won't continue to be as responsive as they are....if he keeps taking these hits.

Cam is the most important player on the Panthers, we have to protect him, and we have to protect him from himself.

    • Winning games and be a +500 team are good. But the goal is to win Super Bowl.  Chiefs had Alex Smith, went to playoff twice and still replaced him.   BY as of now: - To many fumbles - Completion in the intermediate range is just far below acceptable - Not enough of a deep throw threat....   The stats you try use is deceiving.  Catchable......  That is an opinion. Show me the completion %. And also, how does BY compare to other QBs using the stats you cited. Oh... ranked at 27

    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
