Cutting Webb did not go over well in the locker room, per Joe Person

I know it's Joe Person reporting and therefore possibly pregnant with stupidity but Webb was a popular guy. Not a good reason alone to keep him but I'm sure everyone saw DA stinking it up. Bad vibes.

Will players care that a previously-fired GM keeping two kickers (he's done it before) cost a popular, effective role player his spot?

Webb was well liked by teammates and coaches, and this was a deal that didn’t go over well in the locker room. The Panthers also waived No. 4 QB Garrett Gilbert, and will start the season with Newton and longtime backup Derek Anderson as their only quarterbacks.

I can see it.

Webb is a really great guy. Hilarious and cheerful, always smiling. Probably a lot of fun to have around.

No one likes losing those types of co-workers, no matter what company.

They are allowed to care. Then they are allowed to get over it and realize this is a business and to go earn their ridiculous paychecks. 95% of each of them will one day be cut as well. The rest will retire before their paycheck outweighs their talent.

    • I thought he was from watching him play and also doing his first HC job. I thought he was the real deal  Apparently what happened is Kraft committed to Mayo and I don’t remember the timeline exactly - but Vrabel was unemployed at the same time Belichick was unemployed. They both were fired (or out) after the 2023 season.  Kraft hired Mayo. Who was kind of an obvious disaster. He probably already had the deal in place but I will give Kraft credit for not sleeping. With Vrabel out there for 2025 he made the move he needed to make and if it hurt Mayo’s feelings then oh well.  I guess you can tell I am not fond of Kraft but that was a really savvy move. At his age, pretty good. Still has it.
    • It’s going to feel like a home game for the bills. There are so many of their fans that live down here now, and many of them have never seen Allen play in person since their last visit was 8 years ago. It didn’t matter for the cowboys game, but it might here. I think we likely lose a close one. Probably a questionable flag or two that doesn’t go our way. X factor for Buffalo will be Kincaid and Knox. If we do win it’s because we get ahead and play keep away from Allen. FYI- I have many friends who are Bills fans that are fed up with Beane who we all revere and think is the one that got away. They feel like he was great to land Josh but has done a terrible job of building around him (especially at WR) and rely on him to become super man to win- sounds kind of familiar, like the last time we had a franchise QB.
    • I always thought of him as an uptight military family dude, didn't know he needs to wash that mouth out with soap lol.
