It's a lways a joint effort. If a QB has all day, someone will eventually come open. 

But, I expect to have a good pass rush and an average secondary. If our pass rush isn't performing at an above average rate, yeah I think we're in trouble.

no, but that's not going to be an issue.

if we have a 4 man rush...hoyer won't have many options to throw to.

if we have an aggressive blitz happy defense like i think we will, he's not going to have much time to throw to anyone.

shanahan is still probably the best offensive mind in the league, but he doesn't have near the weapons and OL he had last year. hyde is really good. goodwin can take the top off, but is still far from a sure thing when the ball gets near his hand. garcon is respectable...i guess. neither are anywhere near julio jones caliber, though.

to say that hoyer is a mediocre QB would be generous, but the fact that he's familiar with shanahan will probably help him out getting started. the OL is going to present some big problems for shanahan's offense. they just haven't looked good. our DL and pass rush should have no problem foiling most of shanahan's plans all day.

This is true.  Doesn't matter how good the secondary is, a defense has to get to the qb eventually.  The real question is can our secondary hold the line long enough for the rushers to get to the qb?  I think we are better than last year at this time, but that isn't setting the bar all that high.

I think our secondary holds all year. People are sleeping on Worley but don't. Kids going to be good.

I expect a lot of quick passes so the back 7 will have to keep everyone in front of them. Don't think Hoyer is very good with the deep ball.

Between Bradberry, Worley, Munnerlynn, and Webster, we know Bradberry is on the rise, Worley has the floor of a solid but spotty CB2, and Munnerlynn is a great NB.  Webster is promising in case Worley is struggling.  I forgot if Corn can come back on the IR designated to return but I think we will be solid if the DL generates solid pressure.
