Will Armah Be Active On Sunday?

So now that he's up on the 53 the question is will he be active on gameday or not?

Here are the last week's inactives with everyone healthy:

RB Cameron Artis-Payne

DE Daeshon Hall

LB Jeremy Cash

C Greg Van Roten

OT John Theus

QB Brad Kaaya

CB LaDarius Gunter

Honestly, can't see why any of these guys would be active over Armah, after bringing him up this week.

CAP clearly not going to be active with Stew, McC and Fozzy all healthy, considering he was never active last year when Stew was healthy when we didn't have McC.

Hall unlikely to be up as our DL depth is wholesome without him. Likely a redshirt year for him if no injuries, which is just fine.

Cash already has Norris ahead of him so probably not.

Van Roten, maybe if Kalil can't go but in that case Kalil would take this inactive spot.

Theus, no need for more depth active on the OL.

Kaaya, no.

Gunter, likely not as we already have a fair amount of depth at corner active.

So I think he'll almost certainly be active, and evidence also seems to point to him actually contributing on offense. Dickson had been playing the FB position for us but now he'll be taking over Olsen's role so those snaps are up for grabs, and they aren't going to Manhertz... Big opportunity for the kid, hoping he takes advantage and shows something in pass pro, lead blocking and even the receiving game or short yardage runs.

Thoughts on Armah's role this weekend and going forward?

I think he has to be because just in case one of Dickson or Manhertz goes down we are throwing out half the playbook with only 1 FB/TE available.

Dickson takes over Olsen's full time TE spot. Manhertz plays Dickson's TE2 snaps and Armah plays Dickson's FB snaps.

Armah should get more time with the ones in practice period.   I've never really been one to latch on to specific players on the team but Armah has caught my eye more than most rookies over the years in his limited play.  He just seems to be a baller and we need more ballers on this team.  Give Armah a chance please.

it just makes sense. if you're intent on shuffling dickson into olsen's role, then you have to put armah into dickson's role. we have to have that extra blocker because the 5 we have up front just can't do the job consistently enough.

Manhertz makes more sense in Dicksons role.

I think Armah will be an additional tool, not replacing one.

    • Valid, and throw in that what Wilson and Smith did is not out of the ordinary for a WCO
    • Darnold was pretty bad until last year.  He implodes mentally, its just what he does.  To this day I dont have a problem with letting him walk.   Baker is a bit different.  He was an ass in Cleveland and they couldnt deal with his poo, but he at least had talent and went to the playoffs.  So you know he could play at least.  There were different stories coming out from the time he got here, competing with Sam and then the practice team release fiasco.  Both good and bad.  Some say he was a good teammate others say he bitched behind the scenes.   From what it appears his wife has worked with him and he calmed down and his play has reflected that.  Tampa loves him.  So if we were going to keep one it probably should have been him but man he was really bad for us.  But to his defense he didnt get the first team reps until late into camp.     In obvious hindsight we should have signed Baker cheap, drafted a dude and let the cards play out, but you know the rest of the story and now we are going to have to watch bryce for 2 more years
    • Again his one year calling plays happened to be Baker's lowest YPA not counting his split year hear.  That tells me he was less aggressive with a QB who likes to be aggressive.  We have that and almost 2 full years of Bryce Ball here in Carolina.  He will take some deeps shots as most offenses have to in order to keep the defense honest.  Quick passes and hopeful YAC.  I'll give you one guess to which year Rachaad White had the most receptions as TB's RB?  Remember the first thing he wanted to do here is focus on how quickly he wanted to get the ball out.  That's part of his recipe to help QBs and help his OL.  Run the ball, quick passes to hopefully players in space, sprinkle in a little PA.   So yeah you can look at some coaches he learned under and speculate, but I am telling you what he literally is doing and has done as a play caller.  Offenses that were and are 100% his baby.
