New Orleans is discussing Manherts

Quote

The Saints know Manhertz well, of course, having developed the former Canisius basketball star on the practice squad in 2015.

Manhertz made the 53-man roster in 2016 and was active for three games in the early part of the regular season, totaling 43 offensive snaps and 25 on special teams. He didn't record a catch before the Saints waived him in October.

Both players are excellent as receivers

The Panthers identified the potential and scooped up Manhertz, who appeared in four games with Carolina and recorded his first NFL catch against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16.

Manhertz also did enough in a short span to catch the eye of linebacker A.J. Klein, who spent four seasons in Carolina before signing a free-agent deal with the Saints in March.

"Chris is obviously athletic, he's a big body guy," Klein said. "It will be interesting to see what role he fills this week with Greg being out.

"I anticipate Ed, obviously, filling in, but I know Chris is athletic. He's got a big body and he's progressed as a pass-catching tight end."

Dickson has two catches for 26 yards on four targets and has played on 96 offensive snaps through two games, while Manhertz has totaled 26 offensive snaps and 12 special teams snaps with no catches in the same span.

What do you expect from Manhertz this week if anything ?

I would rather see the starters just step up and make more plays. I doubt there is a big trust factor between Cam and Manhertz just yet and Dickson deserves the chance to produce in the passing game anyway. After all, he's the one who's been doing most of the dirty work for little or no glory for the last 6 years.

    • Ohio State no. 8 won it all last year.  No. 6 Penn State and no. 7 Notre Dame advanced to the semi-final. This year no. 7 Ole Miss is going to win it all.
    • agreed.  Lack of games/opportunity makes him a non-factor in OROTY talk.  He is just now getting the stage where there is legit film on him.  Takes awhile to really see how guys react to all the different scenarios and to find the real weak spots on a QB's play in an O.
    • Oh boy how the tables have turned...the passion and extent at which you defend Shough would make even the staunchest Bryce fanboys blush.  The bold part is especially straight from their playbook.  Even if someone here were to withhold giving Shough props, it's pretty understandable as a Panthers fan.  What's quite odd is becoming the biggest stan of our most hated rival's starting QB.  I don't think even Saints fans drool over him this hard. For the record I think this talk about "stans" and "fanboys" is cringe AF and I'm admittedly being rather hyperbolic because this is exactly the kind of discourse and language you personally love to engage in and it's fun to play in the mud from time to time.  There is absolutely no world where you do not meet your own criteria of a "Super Stan" for Shough with how loosely you apply that label to people for Bryce in here.  You're like the Final Boss of Super Stans.
