With virtually no Preseason and little to no practice during the week how the hell could Cam throw a deep ball with any degree of success?

I get what youre saying but its his 7th year in the league. It shouldnt require that many reps to throw an accurate pass. Brett Favre was 40 and got off his lawnmower and threw 30 TDs

I couldn't see the game today, but it seems pretty obvious Cam is very limited right now.

The problem is, we have no viable backup.

Finding ourselves in this situation is entirely on the front office/coaching/ training staff.

Cam should be sitting until he is capable of performing at an NFL level.

We had what very well could have been a better backup option.

We let him go in favor of keeping Derek Anderson and a second kicker.

Perfect example... not of you saca, but this dude.. Josh Norris... he has no clue it's Cam not getting the ball down field and thinks we need help in WRs I'm assuming? Dude just sits and looks at stats and has no clue what he's talking about

Norris is usually pretty good.

We love to pick up yardage in chunks. If we aren't throwing the ball downfield it's because we can't. Cam is hurt, simple and plain, and probably shouldn't be playing.

It was a big time screwup not sitting him at the end of 2016.

He hasn't lost any strength and I don't think he has lost any ability to read coverages. What he has lost is the touch ... the shoulder is coming back but that was a loooong time away from working on his downfield game. Hopefully it is something that he can get back as the season progresses, but it is something he is going to have to work on over and over again at practice. Repetition is how these guys build that phenomenal ability to drop a football into a barrel at 30 yards.

But maybe taking it easy on the arm in practice is the exact wrong thing to do.

If he is physically able to do it anymore, then it is all a matter of how bad he wants to do it and be great at it again.

Strength is only part of the equation.

You have to be able to put it in the right spot, and if your shoulder isn't quite right...

He missed tons of preseason and played most of the game without both his favorite 2 receiving options.

So part of it likely has a lot to do with the fact he is throwing to dudes he hasn't thrown a ton of to of late.   Timing, how they run certain routes, their speed to spots etc......it is why you have a long preseason.

his preseason consistended of a dump of screen and a slant to Kelvin.  That's it.  2 nothing throws really

Agreed, assuming the plan was always to get speed and play making on offense, they should have got the surgery for him late last year so he could get timing and much needed reps in with the new toys,  because as it is, they aren't useful for poo of he can't get the ball to them

No argument that's a factor.
