What to do about this terrible running game...

We have a totally inept ground game that's iembarrassing to watch. None of the teams I watched today even came close to the sh%t running game we put on the field Thursday. Is it the scheme or is the Oline just that terrible? Is it the game plan or the play calling? There is no way they can go far this year with that kind of production every week.

What's the answer as they go into game 6.....or is there even an answer to fix this mess?

Our guards are great but are having a hard time when they're sandwiched between Matt Kalil, Larsen, and Daryl Williams.  You don't want musical chairs on the OL, but Amini or Moton should be looked at at LT.

If Kalil comes back at Center, we bench the other Kalil and see if it clicks better.

We also need a new offensive coaching staff.

Need a scheme change. It's obviously on full display how to attack gaps against us the way we are currently "blocking ".

I'd like to see moton inserted and run fuging power to the right side behind armah. If he can't lead block bring someone in who wants to fuging hit someone

I feel worse about the run game than I did about our passing game in the 1st 3 weeks. I thought there was some hope. The run game just look useless. They don't want to put in Armah and who knows what's up with Kalil.

It's bad. We definitely need to get this figured out now that we have an additional three days to work on it. Hopefully we'll get Kalil back and that will help, but surely missing Kalil hasn't hurt us THIS bad on the ground.

Scheme is fuggin terrible. Trying to run a power scheme when our line isn't built on power. We aren't overpowering ANYBODY this year. I wish we made the switch to a zone blocking scheme for years now. And yes, a good OC can make a line look a whole lot better than they really are with a good scheme in place.

The fact that we have zero running game if Cam isn't using his legs indiciates we need a scheme change. Cam shouldn't have to be the one to jump-start the running game BY HIMSELF.

For get about it and use the pass to set up the run. You can still control the clock and move the ball. Sometimes your not a running team and have to admit it. The way our defense is playing we can keep most teams to 14 to 21 points.

    • Ok--I have seen some sample items, and I would like to see something (if possible) measures on field intelligence--maybe how quickly you can grasp a playbook or absorb film session adjustments...Back when we had Morrison as team president and Hurney as GM, I offered to assess (as part of my research in education requirement at a University) emotional intelligence and learning styles of players to help coaches teach more effectively.  Morrison loved it and contacted me about it.  Hurney was not interested, and it fell through the cracks.  My pitch?  If only 50% of first-rounders become successful NFL players and that number drops significantly, can you tell me that you are effectively measuring talent?  Morrison thought it was a good point and wanted to do something that might improve long-term success rates--that would impact the cap management, etc.  Marty, according to Morrison, said he was not interested at this time and if so, he would want a football guy to do it.  (I told Morrison that I played in college and Hurney, a sports reporter at one time, did not. (He told me that Hurney played as a Guard in college--who knew?) Any way, about that time, Morrison left (2017) and the idea was dropped.  I reached back out a year later or so to Marty was still not interested.  A few days later, his wife accused him of assault or something, so I dropped it.
    • Pretty sure they still do the Wonderlic they just don't publicly release the scores.
    • I just thought he was under the radar--but thanks for opening our eyes to him.  I think we should have better measures for intelligence--such as reaction time, angles, etc. Legette is raw as heck, for example, and his RAS was very high.  We used to do the Wonderlic (which was not great) but to know how effectively a player makes on field decisions would be great.
