Ron addressed this at his presser. He said before they were forcing Samuel in anywhere they could, but now without KB, Samuel can just play one role (which is mostly slot I'm assuming). So they've defined his role, not asking too much of him

What is Samuel’s role now? If you ask to fill Fun Fun’s old job that is asking to much.  He didn’t do that in college.

Sounds like he's trying to cover his ass because they got played by Beane. 

This get faster chant they keep spewing is just an attempt to cover up the fact that there was no plan to change the offensive approach to begin with.  They had options to do that when the trade period opened and could have delt KB and traded for a "faster" wr.  But they sat there on their hands until the phone rang the day before the trade deadline ended.

Beane took advantage of what he knew of this organization and coned old Hurney out of one of his assets.  Hurney sat there trying to wrangle out more compensation while the clock ran out without a plan to "get faster".

This is the reality of how we got here.  You can't sugar coat incompetence or explain away stupidity.  This staff is as clueless as it was the first time Hurney ran the show.
