Guy had a DWI in 2014. The only civil conviction on his record. 

Based on my DWI in 1995, I guess I'm to be labeled as a life-long criminal as well, eh?  One can only wish they have as perfect a life as you, without the smallest error in judgment or transgression.

Never had a DWI but in retrospect I and a lot of other people I know could have.  I don't excuse him for his past mistakes, hell, I thin he's a knucklehead but everything isn't always that cut and dry.  You don't have to be physically addicted to have a problem.  To put all the money and fame on the line to get high or drunk makes you have extremely poor judgement or have an extremely bad problem. It's easy to pass judgement on someone and kick them when their down.  

Hope he makes a comeback and keeps his demons at bay.

DWI is a crime. Hence people convicted of them are criminals.

A criminal is someone who has committed a crime. If you've ever downloaded music illegally, gone over the speed limit, eaten grapes in the grocery store(this is stealing), jaywalked, or literally any of the other dozens of things we all do that are against the law then by definition you are a criminal. We are all criminals. Being convicted of a crime makes you a convict. 

Not that the definition really matters. The dude smoked some weed and had a bit too much to drink. He was convicted and paid his debt to society. If he doesn't have any other legal obligations then why get butthurt about him possibly returning to work?
