Agreed. We have some solid promising younger WRs so I don't see the need to go draft there early. Definitely need to sign a mid-level established wideout or two in FA though, that's essential.

I think there was certainly a need for a playmaker on offense. Which is why CMC and Samuel were selected back to back. Especially with all the assets sunk into the defense over the years.

My plan this off-season? Trade picks for vets who can contribute to winning games now. Sign a variety of good free agents who actually fit the systems we run. Fire Mike Shula. Let Stewart walk.

The role Stew plays is outdated and useless. Nobody needs a 2 yard run up the middle anymore. Let Cam handle those and use the extra blocker.

Do we really care about extending Cam's career by not letting him run the ball,  when that's one of the things he does best? It's simple. Win games for 3-4 more years with Cam running into the ground. Or watch Cam struggle to be a pocket passer and be extremely mediocre for 5-7 years.

This window of opportunity to truly compete and actually win a Super bowl is closing fast, with the majority of the top talent in their prime already. Make a push hard for a SB now, don't regress and use a bunch of rookies next year.

Grab a WR like Donte Moncrief in FA.  Cam won a MVP with a Crap WR, group.  Funch will get better the more starts he gets, Samuel dont give up on him yet.  Throw in a moncrief and you already have a better group than the Panthers have had in a long time.

Not going to draft OT this yeat when you just invested a Lot in Kalil plus still have Moton who they are high on in their back pocket.  Front 7 is good, may need a DE to groom. But you need something to help Now.  Secondary is possibly the biggest weakness as far as position group on the team.

You know what helped Cam and the O get points in  2015? 

Great field position from ints and fumbles.  We are among the Worst if not The Worst this year as far as this. Mike Adams is the ONLY DB with a Int this year with 2.

Mike Adams is the Only DB to cause a fumble this year as well with 1

 

In comparison to 2015 where FIVE DBs had ints.  A safety with 7 and a CB with 4, And 15 as a group.  I doubt we'll any where near 13 the rest of this year to catch up to that total.  And 7 forced fumbles caused among 4 DBs.

Yeah,not a knock on cmc felt we could have gotten the same vaule in later rounds, premier players like cb and de on a rookie contract is gold, defense has a lot invested in the front 7 secondary is severely lacking

We do need DE and S and CB and C and OT and and and....but I’d put a stud WR st the top of our needs. I have high hopes for Samuel, but we need a true stud #1.  It’s been as hard for Gettleman to find us a #1 WR as it was for Hurney to find us a #2.
