Vernon Butler

Starting to make some plays and showing up on game day. He is improving slowly but surely. Maybe not the bust that some have claimed. Give him some time and keep him healthy and they may make a decent player out of him afterall.

More than anything I think we'd rather have HH still....Olsen + him would make the offense hard to stop and give another big target....our defense other than the S play has been fine in most of the games. I don't think most people actually had a problem with him as much as it's a luxury pick to take a 1st round flat out backup on this team.

He's also a monster on FGs. He's always in the area of getting a block. Mark my words guy is going to come up with a huge block later this year.

Yeah, he's a natural at it. I believe he already has two in the limited time he has played. Probably would have had one yesterday if the kick wasn't shanked.

I can't disagree.  Hopefully he will continue to improve.

He definitely effected the Vikings kicker yesterday. I'm pretty sure he got his hands on the ball but there were no good camera angles to show it.

He didn’t on one angle. He would have though, but it was hooked so bad it went to the left of his hand in that short of a distance. Absolutely was not getting there even if straight.

I disagree every angle was fuged so you can't say for sure.

They were but I recall one from the right side they showed really quick and didn’t replay it. You could see it hook left of his hand. I remember because I was interested to see if he got it since I actually like Butler. He signed some balls for my kids in his rookie training camp. Big man.

Maybe when the all 22 comes out it will show exactly what happened.

Another big target? Like KB?

Anyway, I think we have to remember that Butler was almost out for the year in preseason. I’m glad we have him because we have a 4 man DT rotation that no one else in the playoffs has and they will be pretty fresh. Look at what Short did in the second half. I felt like I saw Butler and Love on running downs and then Star and Short on passing downs. That’s not a luxury IMHO, that’s an advantage.

I don’t think Henry is enough of a difference over Dickson (no one guessed Olsen would be hurt so long this year) that I’d rather not have the best all game (not just starting) DL in the playoffs. Pressure is how we beat Minnesota and it’s how a team like the Giants beat a juggernaut.

Henry is light years ahead of Dickson in blocking and contributing to his offense. TEs are usually big.  Henry should have been the pick!  Butler was a luxury pick pure and simple, and our rotation would have survived successfully without him.

He's a damned solid DT with even more potential for future improvement, much to the chagrine of the haters.

Maybe we can get Mark Andrews from OU in the first round next year.

    • All I heard was uber rides, weight trainers, and t shirts??? Maybe some meals too........ What a monster and he should be tossed in a rusty wood chipper!!!1!11!!!!!
    • This is from 5 months ago. It was one or the other. Trade for one or draft one. We apparently called the Jets about Wilson. We also talked to the Seahawks about Metcalf. Drafting our own guy was the best course of action given the required investment. Regardless now is the time for Bryce Young to produce. We are fourth amongst all teams in cap spending on the OL. Back to back first round picks at WR and multiple young TE draft picks now. Very solid and respectable backfield. New pieces across the defense. The time is now.
    • That was just the worst time to have their worst game of the season. One key deal was the broncos guess the Panthers would NOT change any plays or flow to the game. Another key point overlook that bronco defense was truly one of the best in the NFL history. It was the best defense the Panthers faced that year, by far. They were not ready for it, but broncos were ready for the Panthers. Mix in that bad luck, poor refs showcase, and this is the golden boys last game........ Panthers needed to win by 20 and the broncos defense was not going to allow that.  Panthers were the favorites and I believe they also thought that it was going to easier than them destroying NFC playoff teams as they marched to the SB. I've heard darin Gantt say the play calls were to give remmers help, but for some reason the team never did it. During the year they never had that problem, so maybe never practiced giving help via TE/RB, or WR chip. Cam was superman that year, no need for any adjustments...... Until you meet a legendary defense with studs at all levels, Think about it, Peyton was throwing wingless dunks for the whole season, the defense had to carry his corpse to the SB. That's how good they were, not many defense are able to get to the playoffs and win a SB without decent QB play. If you recall the beginning of that defense took Tim Teblows and his non-throwing arse to the playoffs couple years before. That's insane the level of defense needed to overcome.
