Don't see how they can do that.  Any potential owner would want to have a say in those contracts.  Wouldn't be surprised if the minority owners block it.

Unless minority owners approve ;)

Who else would want stability?

Richardson could get a new deal with the stadium in place before he sells the team.  Get another 10 years and that would almost guarantee that the new owner would be from the local area.

Rivera, as much as I dislike his loyalty to Shula, deserves an extension.  If we walked away from Rivera after his contract is up.  He will be snatched up quite quickly.

Knowing our luck he would hire a young and imaginative offensive coordinator..

How will Hurney perform without being told to extend certain people at all costs?

This is an interesting question...I’ve always disliked Hurney but one has to consider the meddling owner is now gone and Hurney can make more balanced, business decisions.

What does this have to do with the cap?

If you can’t figure that out I don’t know if anyone can explain it to you.

Glad to have Rivera back. He is a good coach and a defensive mastermind. Would love to make some offensive changes though.

That's what makes me think the deal is already done and the new ownership group wants to move forward with Rivera for the time being.

The Bears would most likely jump right on Rivera before he hits the door leaving Panthers as HC.

Why would the news of new ownership be hidden from us fans like that and or the football world unless it will be unveiled after season like it was supposed to happen with sale of team and all to surprise us all with it.

I’d prefer neither but definitely Ron to Hurney. I just hope we don’t try to lure Beane back. He seems like the classic JR yes man who had no business being in the position he was. We’ve already fleeced him in a trade for a player he should have known was more of a headache than an asset. What a moron.

Extending one of the top 10 coaches in the league is a no brainer.  But extending Hurney is just going to put this team into a huge mess.  Ugh.

Which begs the interesting question. Was Hurney making decisions and transactions to match Jerry's wants, or was he really just a bad GM? Guess we'll soon find out.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
