Rams plan on resting players week 17

So, if the Rams are resting starters, that's almost a guarantee loss for them.  Saints and Vikings aren't losing, so what's the incentive for our starters to play?  Win or lose, we're the 5th seed regardless.  And personally, if I was the Rams, I would rather play the Panthers.  Secondary is getting more and more exposed every week, another receiver down, historically, east coast teams tend to struggle on the west coast, etc.  McVay knows what he's doing.

Sunday I would have said no way we lose to the bucs. They could beat the saints. Be pretty stupid of us to rest starters until saints are up big.

It really sucks that both games are being played at the same time.  However, the Bucs are done, IMO.  They had a little bit of fight left in them for our game, but our defensive line broke them.  They should be focusing on a draft spot at this point.

Id rather go play the rams than the saints.

hell yea man. We beat the Vikings this year and the Vikes managed to be one of the few teams to totally shut down the Rams offense . That's probably a good sign for us , rather than go against a team thats had our number 2x in a row.

I don't understand why everyone assumes Nick Foles is going to single handedly ruin the Eagles chances. They are still a formidable opponent with a more experience QB now.

and if you watch the last game they are still just oozing talent from everywhere  . They can win playoff games if Foles isnt turning the ball over

He isnt wrong, I wonder if the Panthers play their starters if we werent in such a dead heat with the Saints.

Playing 3 games, or 4 straight on the road is no easy task, it will be totally worth it to the Panthers if we somehow managed to win the Division or even got the Bye somehow. So I know why we are playing our starters, but Part of me really wishes we would just rest our starters this week, because I Just done see the Saints losing to the bucs

Wait, so the Rams want to avoid playing a team they just smoked on the road in Seattle or a Saints team they already handled at home, just to position themselves to play the Panthers?  I don't think they care who they play, they trust their defense and a home game to get by anyone.  If you're scheming for your playoff opponents and path, that's weak sauce.  You're not going to be able to avoid good teams and sneak all the way to the SB, so just bring on anyone.  Fug it.

That said, if we happen to fall into a spot to play the Rams in the first round, I would prefer that over a trip to the Superdome.  That's just me though.

We lose Cam Newton do we still go? Atl loses Matt Ryan do they still go? Saints lose Drew Brees do they still go?

You lose a MVP type QB like that you arnt as good. Especially against good defenses like they'll see through the playoffs. It's crazy to think there won't be a big drop off vs good teams

Well, the drop off from wentz to Foles isn’t nearly as bad as Cam to DA or brees to his backup. Why I never considered wentz an mvp. Cam means much more to this team than wentz did to the eagles, but still a big loss for them obviously

Nick Foles is better than Derek Anderson and Chase Daniel. He was 16-4 in his last 20 starts for the Eagles. There might be a drop off. They still should probably be favored in every home game they play.

    • we are not talking about the 5th we are talking about bryce being one of if not the worst starter in the nfl for the past 3 years.  Dont move the goalposts my man
    • The issue is the position Bryce plays. Finding a good/great quarterback isn't easy. Plus, it sometimes takes years for these guys to actually become good/great. What you have to look for is progress instead of regression. Bryce has shown that. Can he put it all together? We don't know yet. But that's why you place a smaller bet with the 5th year option, and wait to see. You could be wrong and lose your 30 mil bet, but you didn't hitch your wagon long-term and lose much more.
    • Absolutely not. That’s too much for replacement level player. Bryce may be that. Or he may turn into something more. If you can’t see the flashes, you’re willfully blind. There’s more bad than good right now, but there’s less bad than there was earlier in his career. He’s only 24 and he’s showing signs of improvement. He may never become consistent enough to justify a long term contract, but he’s shown enough to roll the dice on what effectively will turn into a 2 year, $30MM contract for the next two years to see if he can earn something longer.    Sure, in his one season starting, Howell managed to throw for 3,946 yards and toss 21 TDs, but it took throwing the ball an astounding 612 times. He also threw 21 INTs (for a particularly egregious 3.4 INT%). For all the talk of him being a deep ball thrower, he still only averaged 6.4 YPA, with an average air yards of 5.6 yards per attempt. And for all the excuses of Washington’s line giving him no protection (65 sacks taken that year), he was only pressured on 22.7% of his dropbacks, which is a few percentage points lower than what Bryce has had to deal with each year (24.2, 26.7, and 24.0%).    These are all numbers that are at best roughly equivalent to Bryce’s production the past two years. It’s wild to me people can claim so confidently that he’s a better QB.
