2018 Needs and the draft

I know we are in the heat of the playoffs and I hope we make a long run and change this position.

Currently NFL.com has us at 25 (Not sure why the 9-5 Chiefs are behind us.  so probably 26)

It should also be noted that our 3rd round pick from Buffalo will be 18 (give or take a spot or two)

I am pretty much in agreement.  I think Safety could be in this group too.

24. Carolina Panthers
Record: 11-4 (.533)
Top needs: OL, WR, DE
The skinny: Carolina is in desperate need of a bell-cow at left tackle. Replacing guard Andrew Norwell could be a priority, as well, if he leaves in free agency. Wide receiver is another spot that appears to be a must-have position at some point early in the draft. Carolina needs a true edge bender with speed to get after the talented QBs in the NFC South.

Top needs that have to be adressed this offseason either through draft or FA :

  1. Saftey
  2. DE
  3. WR
  4. LT
  5. CB

We absolutely can not afford to ignore saftey anymore, weve been putting free agent bandaids in the deep backfield for the longest time. I think we need to get either a saftey or a DE in R1 or R2 of the draft, theres no more excuses. Direly need to upgrade saftey and inject some youth into the position.

My favorite prospects so far are (ofc just the ones we have a realistic shot at drafting so late in all the rounds) :

R1

  • Ronnie Harrison , S, Alabama (2nd favorite overall prospect)
  • Austin Bryant, DE, Clemson (Someone will take Ferrell way before we pick)
  • Sam Hubbard , DE, Ohio State

R2

  • Christian Kirk , WR, Tex A&M
  • Mark Andrews , TE, Oklahoma
  • Duke Ejiofor , DE, Wake Forest
  • Parris Campbell, WR, Ohio State
  • Anthony Miller, WR , Memphis

R3

  • Troy Fumagalli (Favorite prospect in this whole draft) , TE, Wisconsin
  • Tavarus McFadden , CB, FSU

Be on the lookout for these dudes if they drop near to the bottom of the 1st for whatever reason (Simular to Ramzyck and Foster last year, couldve easily been top 10 picks in retrospect)

  • Derwin James , S, FSU (probably the best possible pick for us  , however unlikely)
  • Ardey Key , DE, LSU
  • Mike McGlinchey (OT), Connor Williams (OT), Orlando Brown (OT)
  • Calvin Ridley , WR, Alabama

1. Safety

2. WR

3. CB

4. Center

5. DE

6. TE

Right now in order who I'd like the First 3 rounds

1st round

A. Joshua Jackson- as closests thing to Josh Norman to come out in several years.

B. Ronnie Harrison- Athletic SS. Safety has been The biggest weak point on this team this year.

C. Christian Kirk- athletic WR.  WR core is terrible here now and could come right in and start.

D. Billy Price- will be a reach here but he is a late 1st early 2nd guy.  I dont expect Ryan Kalil to be here much longer.  Price is a mauler Center.

2nd round:

A. Billy Price- if he somehow falls, its a win

B. Deshon Elliot- see above with Harrison

C. Armani Watts

D. Donte Jackson

3rd round

A. Donte Pettis

B. Frank Ragnow

C. Josh Sweat

D.  Troy Fumagalli

E. Anthony Miller

F. Porter Gustin

G. Michael Gallup

We'll resign Norwell, even if it involves cutting Ryan Kalil which open 7.5 mil in order to keep Norwell long tern

As a Georgia fan, I would be ecstatic with Nick Chubb at RB. He would be a perfect compliment to McCafrey as power back. Any time I see him run, reminds me a little of Ray Rice.

Sticking in the SEC, getting a true playmaker at WR in Calvin Ridley would br HUGE for this team but doubt he would be available when we pick.

Other needs include safety, DE, OT, OG, and c

    • This season only ends one way... We win this Sunday. Bryce is decent. We take back 1st place...   Only to then get our brakes blown off in the last two weeks.
    • Here's one of the most maddening things, that will be shown in full light over the next three weeks. The same people around here that called Darnold a bum and Mayfield a washed up over draft are also the ones saying Bryce is a catastrophe. Yeah, and I've been one who said Bryce wasn't big enough, brave enough or capable enough. I said back in the day that Darnold had a lot of fight in him and got shouted down. And on Mayfield, heck I didn't know, I just knew we had a very, very bad team that was run terribly. But I saw both of those guys go out there and resurrect their careers and be play-off bound since shaking the Carolina clay dust off their cleats. And we sat there and cat called their cars as they pulled out of the parking lot, laughing at what nobodies they were. Over the next three weeks, those two guys may just serve us sh!t sandwiches and then settle down to their just desserts. And then we'll probably let Bryce go off into the realm of other teams. And when that happens, will we see him coming back, better than before and we're left to re-sit this cycle all over again? Same naysayers, same results, same revolving carousel of ponies and pundits?  Will we end up looking like the Temu version of the San Diego Chargers back in the day watching Drew Brees come to fruition in the previously moribund Superdome while we whiff on a Manning pick just to be jilted for Phillip "Always a Bridesmaid" Rivers?
