Lets hope they have their best game tomorrow,

Or Julio have the dropsies again

Or the front 7 camp in the back field tomorrow

Helps to not put them 20 yards off the LOS.

If you are going to blitz(which we do a lot) it is actually mentally inept to give them enough cushion to just sit there and be open for a hot/easy read....I mean....it's REALLLYYY fugin stupid to blitz while having that much cushion.

If you are pressed up on the WR and the blitz gets there the only option is literally a deep sideline shot and that's where a S is supposed to....oh....well poo yup our S's are turd biscuits.

I think what we're seeing is that Wilks is running his defense, and if you're a liability on the back end, then so be it where as McDermott would gameplan to help them look better.  Regardless, Bradberry has taken a massive step back this year, we have to be looking into corners going into next year, and not ones that couldn't go on the fun rides at the fair because of height restrictions.

Both of our starting corners are 6'1"(listed) and taller than our 5'11"(listed) S's.....

Not sure where you think we're going to be getting any taller there(Norman 6'0 listed)

We look for corners with arms that hang down to their knees, not just height.

That said, super tall corners are kinda rare. It's unusual for guys that tall to be fluid enough to do what a corner has to.

Last year, the DBs were being coached by Wilks directly. Can't help feeling that makes a difference.

For whatever you think of him as a DC, Wilks is a damn good position coach.

I think McDermotts zone scheme protected them much better than Wilks scheme. With that said even the best CBs rarely are great year two or three.

I've never been a fan of PFF, but to anyone actually watching the games it's been pretty clear that pur SECONDARY have not played well for the most part.

fixed

Unless you wanna elaborate on how our S play has been good?

    • Per Bill Barnwell  Vikings bring back a familiar face Vikings get: WR Adam Thielen Panthers get: 2026 sixth-round pick, 2027 seventh-round pick A reunion between Thielen and his former team seems too easy. The Vikings are struggling with injuries at wide receiver and a potential Jordan Addison suspension. The Panthers want to see what they have with their younger wideouts, and Hunter Renfrow's emergence in camp as a potential fourth or fifth option could squeeze a roster spot for Thielen, who doesn't play special teams. The problem is Thielen's $6.25 million base salary. The Vikings obviously would prefer the Panthers cut the 34-year-old and pick him up for free, but Carolina already paid Thielen a $1.5 million roster bonus earlier in the offseason, suggesting it expected to have him. His salary isn't yet guaranteed, but it will become so if he's on the roster in Week 1, leaving the Panthers until then to make a decision. If he does get released, he isn't likely to get anything close to $6.25 million from another team, so he also is facing some uncertainty. All sides involved probably would need to give a bit to make a mutually advantageous deal work. The Panthers would eat $1.5 million of Thielen's contract, getting two of the three picks the Vikings got from the Jets in the Harrison Phillips trade in return. Thielen would take a $1 million pay cut in return for having the remaining $3.8 million guaranteed. The Vikings cleared out almost exactly that much when they made the Phillips trade, allowing them to absorb what's left of Thielen's contract as part of the deal. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46053274/nfl-preseason-trades-2025-team-offers-players-draft-picks-contracts
    • From JoeBucsFan. Teams don't usually waste 2nd round picks like that. Kind of sounds like they think he just doesn't belong in the NFL.
