If we lose on Sunday, will you consider this season to be a success?

Pros of this season (if we lose this weekend):

- Went 11-5 a year after going 6-10

- Made the playoffs for the 4th time in 5 years, something I don't think we've appreciated enough

- After a slow start, McCaffrey has turned it on as of late and is exciting to think about going forward

- Beat the Patriots in Foxboro, Cam and Rivera are 2-0 against Brady and Belichick

- Funchess hasn't taken a huge step forward, but he's definitely taken A step forward

- If Byrd can stay healthy, he looks like he's going to be very very very good

Negatives of this season (if we lose this weekend):

- The defense regressed as the season went along. The only breakout defensive player was Julius Peppers, who probably has only one year left. I can't really point to any other defensive player as someone that took a step forward or looked better than I thought they were going to look

- Cam was incredibly, ridiculously inconsistent week-to-week. It's possible he peaked in 2015 and we'll never see that player again consistently

- The Saints hitting the trifecta sweep against us would be a bitter pill to swallow when it comes to offseason trash talk..

- ....As would losing our last 2 games of the year, against division rivals no less.

- Matt Kalil wasn't a complete disaster, but he definitely wasn't worth the contract we gave him

The Panthers could lose Sunday 5,460-0 this Sunday with Cam throwing 146 picks and I would consider the 2017 season the single most successful season in franchise history.

The reason being, the end of Jerry Richardson.

Heck no. Anything short of the NFC Champ game is a lost season.

No.

Whether this organization has accepted it or not, we are in "win now" mode.  Cam and Luke are veterans (and who knows when Luke's career might be over), TD is on his last legs, cant possibly expect much from Pepp/Charles Johnson anymore, and we have a 36 year old starting safety.  If we don't win a superbowl in the next 3ish years, we aren't going to for a long while.

this but the window closes after next season.

When you have arguably two future hall of famers on both sides of the ball in their prime, it should be superbowl or bust every season. Obviously can't expect that, but this year (for me) was no doubt superbowl or bust considering the firing of G-man and how we will start going downhill again with Hurney at the helm.

On paper win loss it looks like a successful season, but to anyone that had expectations it is a loss because you see that this team could have had at least 2 rings by now. Now your core is getting old, injuried,  and just mentally wounded. You look at the coaches and say wtf because I believe anyone with a brain could have gotten these players a ring anybody but this coaching staff. Rivera and Shula are stepping stones. Meant to get you to next step in the game they should have been gone before 2015. We had a better coach and of Superbowl 50 would have been won. I know ome of you say you can' t say that ...but yes I can we are winning by the defensive talent on this team and the will of Cam  newton. Name 2 decisions that Rivera or Shula made that but these players in  better position on the field. I am truly disappointed in this season because the panthers look like pretenders.

Not really.

But I also would say it’s possible we over achieved given our severe lack of weapons at the WR position.

An elite OC and competent QB can make JAGs look good. Doesn't matter if you got Jerry Rice as WR if you are calling a deep post when defense is clogging the middle deep taking away that route.

I think you short change Mario Addison. He continues getting better. I heard a stat that he is top five in sacks over the last 20 games.

We are lucky to have him signed already.

No is the only answer wtf is this poo.....

SB or bust period that is the only answer at this point...we have a franchise MLB and franchise QB....we're not rebuilding or playing the waiting game for people to develop.....we have 4 HoFers possibly 5....honestly I swear....gtfo wit these people who are still just happy to have a franchise in the Carolina.

    • I’m old enough to remember when I wanted to draft Njoku We brought back Mitchell and officially kept Tremble. Mitchell Evans isn’t going anywhere. Sanders who knows, he was awful last year I fully agree we need a better TE. This room is awful Njoku would be a massive help in the red zone. However it really seems like Dan and the FO prefer to go young on offense
    • You’re underselling Loveland imo. He’s so damn good. You can line him out wide and count on him to win 1 v 1. I don’t see that from Sadiq. Loveland is going to go over 1000 yards next season I’m not overly asking for a WR3. It’s just one of the few directions Morgan could go in round 1.  Let’s say Thieneman, Fano and Cooper are all on the board it’s a tough decision. I just don’t see how this team would take Sadiq over some of those guys given the way they run their offense. Our tight end room is easily bottom of the league so I can definitely see why someone would want a tight end though. At one point during the season I was on the Sadiq train as well. I just don’t think value wise for us specifically it makes sense given our team as a whole As far as tight ends go in this draft I really like Max Klare. Very smooth mover
    • Some of you need some serious help with the way 9 lives rent free in your heads I know for a fact, Dan loves Bryce. Bryce is his guy. This offense is very young and they’re asking Bryce to do a lot. With Idzik taking over playcalling duties it’s a move that is another step in the process of Bryce taking control of the offense. 24 years old. This youth movement on offense and putting more on 9’s shoulders is going to pay off in the long run
