Norv Turner can turn Christian McCaffrey into Panthers’ ‘premiere back’

And how many people defended him year after year because they knew no better.

I suppose it's possible that Mike Shula we'll go somewhere and prove us all wrong, but I'm not expecting it. I am, however, hoping that Dorsey gets the job in Atlanta.

I can't believe we wasted so much time and talent with Shula. Pisses me off.

Can't wait to see a guy that actually knows what he's doing and knows how to use his personnel correctly.

Agree with you Rayzor, even better, in free agency and draft, hopefully, Norv has input there too

I am not totally in agreement with LT that Stewart is gone but if he used Armah (similar role as Tolbert) and Stewart (or his replacement) in the running game.  Defenses are going to have fits with this offense.  Turner using his vertical attack and Cam's throws.  Stacking the box to prevent the run will step right into what he wants to do.

Turner will get the players he needs and IMO has many of the tools already on the roster (famous DG line) to really put us in upper echelon in offenses.

One thing that keeps running through my mind is how often we saw Rivers scramble for a 1st down.  With receivers taking DBs down the field.  CMC and Olsen pulling LBs to cover them.  The middle of the field could be wide open for some designed and improvised runs for Cam.

With our (hopefully improved) defense and this type of offense.  Teams are not going to be happy to see the Carolina Panthers on their schedule.

2018 the Panthers are taking their throne back atop of the NFCS.

Jonathan is a great person and teammate but he clearly does not map to his contract, a terrible contract given to him by the person who know needs to terminate him

Lets see if Hurney does  what needs to be done, release Stewart and sign him back later if he wants but the Panthers must must get a lot better quickly at that position ...and no CAP isn't the answer

Very frustrating if offense isn’t his expertise bring someone in who know how. Thank goodness we have a strong offensive mind coming in. I just hope Turners prime hasn’t passed him by.

Derrius Guice, welcome to Carolina.

Definitely a young Beast Mode type of back. Leonard Fornette got all the publicity but Derrius is the 4th running back in SEC history to have multiple 250 yard rushing games. A list that includes Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson and does not include Nick Chubbs.

To be honest Stew's contract is the worst part about keping him. He is still a work horse often carrying 3 or 4 defensive players for the few yards he gains. If Carolina used the Full Back the right way and had been able to empty out the box which was always stacked I think he would have had much better stats the last couple years.

All of which comes back on Shula,

Tomlinson is about the size of McCaffrey as well. I could see it, honestly.

CMC was 205 to start this season and LT was 215  . Kamara and Hunt also around 215.

McCaffrey really needs to gain 10 to 15 lbs of muscle in the offseason if he wants to be a better RB.

But really after he gets his body in good NFL RB weight/shape, it becomes more about him getting better at breaking tackles and playing more physically. He cant outspeed and outjuke everyone in the NFL.

Really Christian wasnt given the chance to be the feature back this past season. He got ten or more carries in only 3 out of 17 games , he averaged over 4 ypc if you average the stats of those 3 games and we won all 3 (49ers, falcons first time, packers) . I really would like to see him in 3-4 games with 20+ carries, he was barely used consistently as a runner last season averging less than 2 carries per quarter of football.

If nothing else he showed really good potential of what the offense could be if hes the feature player in the Packers game first drive when every other play or even consecutive plays to him. We moved the chains easily and scored a TD.  I think hes more than a change of pace player and i hope Turner tries to give him more attempts running and better run playcalls for him (tosses, direcetional runs, alot more stuff to the outside where he works well in space and shula was too stupid to do this for the most part)
