NFL tinkering with the outcomes of a game?

Maybe not so obvious, but there are ways to influence a game outcome in various ways. The refs can make or break any game with one or two suspect calls at the right time, injuries that may or may not be valid, bogus plays on the field, etc. With viewership being down and interest starting to drop, they need to keep the biggest teams in the spotlight.

Of course they do, especially since Goodell.     Too many "story lines" that create ratings have happened.     It's perfectly LEGAL since the NFL is the same type of company as the WWE, "entertainment".    I don't think it always works, and I don't think tons of people are involved, but ONE ref can edge games one direction etc.    The league is almost completely profit sharing so ratings gets everyone involved money.

I totally agree. I thought it was pretty obvious with that guy from the saints head going down and not even getting near Diggs.

So you're saying the NFL somehow got Williams to throw the game? There's no way to know how that game is going to end, which player would be in the key position to change the outcome. You'd have to make sure almost every Saints defender knew what to do. You are implying a much larger conspiracy that would require an unsustainable amount of people to have knowledge of and keep quiet about. You're also ignoring that the NFL would have wanted the Saints to win over the Vikings because Brees is a better draw.

Do you think the nfl wanted the jaguars in the Superbowl?? Look at the number of penalties called on the patriots vs the jags...

I have a hard time believing the NFL could keep it quiet, especially in this day and age where everyone has a camera in their back pocket and breaking a story like this would be a career maker.

The Panthers were one of the least penalized teams this season. Was the NFL trying to get us into the playoffs?

So did the NFL tell the Jags to burn the whole play clock and not call time out to negate a key 3rd down pick up late in the 1st half that would have prevented the final Patriots drive of the half with the suspect PI and critical TD? Did the NFL tell the Jags to switch to more zone based coverage in the second half rather than the man they had played the whole game?

The crew didn't call many penalties at all. The only hold they called was worthy of a MMA take-down. Good coaches read the officials just like the weather or wind and instruct their team accordingly.

I don't think the NFL told Doug Marrone to cut his own balls off and completely shut it down from :55 in the 2nd onwards.

People think Rivera is conservative... that right there was some playing not to lose.

If you went into that game thinking the Patriots were going to get all the calls, you see conspiracy. 

If you just watched the game,  there was no conspiracy.  

Jacksonville could have easily scored 30+ in that game.

100% confident the NFL does not tinker with the outcome. Bad calls happen all year to all teams. We notice is with certain teams more often because ESPN talks about 4-5 teams regularly, if that. If the NFL wanted the highest markets to do well then Brady and Zeek would never have received 4 game suspensions. Or, during the appeal they would have been reduced to 2 games.
