The head coach is usually the one who decides on assistants, but Ron has enough respect for Norv that if Norv wanted somebody, Ron would probably listen.

So here's hoping Norv wants Russ Grimm.

First thought I had was Russ Grimm. That'd be awesome if the Panthers hired him.

Has Norv even signed here yet? Wtf

Ron is a long time is going to have to work and find the best out there, not just moving people up and down. I would think Norv would have a big say so in who takes this position, it is his offense.

Yes, Norv is official.

Scott isn't...yet.

Our Oline play sucks.. so meh.

Your basing this on the LT only.  Turner and Norwell both became All-Pro.  Daryl Williams is at least a solid RT.  Ryan has been amazing for years.  Larsen was a solid starter for many games as an UDFA.

He was made the OL coach when they gave Matsko the title of Run Game Coordinator.

Realistically speaking, a run game coordinator is just an offensive line coach with a different title.

Which begs the question of why wasn't our run game any better?  It has sucked for a few years now and doesn't look to improve anytime soon.

Our running game has been bad for years.  This has been covered up by Cam's numbers.  Take Cam out of the equation and I don't see what's so "good" about our Oline.  Someone getting grades as All-Pro is gravy.   I just don't see what's so good about our Oline play.

I see glimpses yes, but nothing consistent.   It may be all Shula's fault, but I haven't seen anything about the Oline that has stood out, or made me feel like coaching can't be changed.

Run game sucked the first 8 games of the year. After that we were gravy.

I really think it was Shula's Doofy play calling.

No one had any reason to respect our pass game because they could predict our routes.

They could sell out to stop the run without having to worry.

So, your QB is the team's leading rusher for the season. (Strike 1)

Your starting RB is 30 when he gets a 2-year, $8M contract in 2017. In 2018, he'll be 31 six months before the season starts and will get a base of $1.9M, a $1M roster bonus due in March and another $850k in incentive bonuses through the season. (Strike 2)

You have no one waiting in the wings who has shown they can step up to be a starting RB in the NFL. (Strike 3).

Yes, your running game sucks.

Ron standing around with his hands in his pockets while other teams are making moves.

I mean, assistant coaches have survival and preservation instincts too.

They know what Ron is from working with him (a good man, a mediocre head coach), they see an is-he-or-isn't-he GM situation, they see nothing but question marks surrounding any issue of ownership... as an assistant, it would look to me like a good time to make a move as well.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
