The only excuse I can make for Hurney is that he is/was Richardson's "yes man".  Gettlemen, apparently, was not.  The stupidity of Marty Hurney's Jake Delhomme deal, followed by his rampage through free agency after Richardson's "pie chart" purging in 2010, followed by the Everrette Brown, Armanti Edwards, and Jeff Otah trade ups--inexcusable.  I know some of you like him, but you have short memories or you have not researched his success compared to other GMs for good teams.

Marty laughed during a recent interview when his lack of popularity when he left was mentioned.  That pissed me off. Maybe he will be better without the carpet burns on his forehead from JR's  office.  (too much?)

I think it comes down to "out-bidding" someone else.  As such I think that I'd offer a 5th, if I thought he was worth it,  and see what happens. I'd open a line of communication immediately.

For players? Greg Olsen was a pretty good trade. Now draft picks are an entirely different matter.
