Possible GM Candidates

Take a look at that list and what do you notice?

Three people that fall under the legal or business side of the operation, and one football person who'll basically have a say in hiring his own boss.

Other teams have either hired outside consultants or had actual football people making these decisions, but in true Jerry Richardson fashion the Panthers are going to hand a crucially important job over to people who aren't qualified to do it.

Times like this I question why I even cheer for this team.

I hold out hope that someday, hopefully before I die, that the team will one day win a title for it's loyal fans.  No matter how FUBAR it is it's our team.

I read something on Twitter today that made a lot of sense. The reason Ron was extended and why Hurney will ultimately get the GM spot is because the new owner is already in the house as one minority owners. Jerry already knows who he's selling to.

It made a lot of sense because it would only be a matter of new paperwork for the transfer of ownership, these owners are already in good with the NFL (I would think), and they would keep the team in Charlotte and B of A.

I've been out of the loop for a bit so sorry if this insight had already been posted.

I don't believe anything is in place yet.

I do believe Jerry Richardson is going to try very hard to get somebody that will follow his wishes. That includes keeping Marty Hurney, someone who no owner with half a brain would actually want.

Too soon.

Oh damn... I was just reacting to the idea of keeping Hurney around. Didn’t realize those words were bolded. LOL  I swear I wasn’t being that clever. It never entered my mind until I saw your post.

Who in there right mind wants a GM job for less than a year? New ownership will fire and rehire their own once the team transfers.

Agree.  That’s why we will get a bunch of guys to fill holes that can’t find work anywhere else.  The next several seasons look like they could be some of our worst.
