We as a society are at a point where it's OK to kick and keep kicking a person when they are down.   We relish in it and can't get enough.  We have forgotten what it means to be decent, and care for our fellow man/woman.

There have always been ass holes who take stuff too far, but in fewer numbers so it wasn't so overwhelming.

All these people needed someone to reach down and help them up.  It doesn't matter how big you are,  if you keep getting put down over and over again it can and in most cases make you feel helpless, hopeless.  Those feeling can lead to serious depression which fuels the helpless and hopeless feeling.

One person probably could have made a huge difference in his life simply by reaching down to help him up before it got that bad.

Yet another panther threatening people with guns on a bed

cant wait for huddlers to claim the school was asking for it.

If you are a great big pussy and an admitted coward like Martin, you shoot people for revenge because you are 6’ 5” 300 lb pussy.

If you are a woman and your NFL defensive end boyfriend throws you on a “bed of guns” you shoot him with one of them in self defense and walk free.

The two situations aren’t really similar.

Martin is a very troubled soul dealing with demons I can’t pretend understand. He’s definitely not someone in need of artillery on standby, he needs intensive psychotherapy and monitoring.  I don’t find him to be a particularly charming individual, so I’m not coming to his defense as an advocate. He’s a grown man who has clearly rejected any serious pathway to more stable mental health.

It’s just a terrible sad story. No winners.

And yeah, getting worked up about the “former panther” part of this is so insignificant.

LAPD now appears to be saying Martin is not a threat. I'm not sure if the statement about "the individual believed to be responsible" refers to Martin or if they think someone else might have done it in his name. The wording is a little unclear..

USA Today

"The individual believed to be responsible for the social media post is being detained, however he is not in police custody," the LAPD spokesperson Tony Im told USA TODAY Sports in an email on Friday night. "The investigation is continuing, but rest assured we believe there is no threat to any school in the LA area."

It's more than just bulling too. Everyone see's other peoples gains and little of their struggles so if you don't have what you see you want that too and feel less adequate. I do remember there being a study or two going over how social media has increased depression overall and it isn't just about bullying.

To a lot of people I guess it seems like everyone else has everything and a lot of people seem to focus on their negatives instead of the things they do have. It's a weird thing and the constant bullying and lack of escape is definitely a big factor. I was bullied too but was the type to fight back and bite people in the face and poo so they'd stop but couldn't imagine if getting jumped and spit on and poo was posted online. I might tuck something too...i dunno....

Bullying has been around forever. Mass school shootings have only become commonplace in the last 20 years or so. To blame everything on bullying is definitely painting with way too wide of a brush.

Replace the word bullying with guns and you've made another compelling argument.

It has been around forever, but the ability to take it to a 24/7 event is not. Extreme cases and trying to absolutely destroy someone has never been so easy. Add in that all this can be done now without having to actually confront someone, and it gives people who would never have had the courage to do it the ability to have power over someone's life. It's a recipe for disaster.
