So we didn't even choose between Star or Norwell. Just decided "no" on both.

This is what got Hurney in trouble last time.  You have to be able to let players walk if the price doesn't fit.   Maybe he has learned from past mistakes.

We're saving up to pay big money to a kicker that loses us playoff games.

Really enjoyed Norwell's time here. Wish Gettleman would've gotten him locked up long-term before he blew up. Oh well. We can't afford two top money tier guards. Turner is already a top 5 paid OG in terms of average dollars per year. Norwell will almost certainly be #1 when he signs his new deal. Can't afford that type of expenditure at the OG position. Especially with Williams' contract looming at OT.

Ton of time for that to change... We were never going to re-sign him but I still wouldn't bet on DG winning the bidding war for him. Love Norwell and wish we could keep him and that we extended him last offseason. But whatever, that's the business of the NFL.

    • I agree that perspective is important.  I also think that it's fine to take the wins when you can.  So the Panthers have started playing a lot better against bad teams after the first couple of weeks.  Cool, I'll take that.  Will it continue?  I don't know.  The Jets could be the uber trap/Steve Wilks revenge buzzsaw that sucks all the life and wind out of us.  Or we could beat them and the narrative still wouldn't change because they are a really bad team. Here's my long perspective:  We've been one of the worst teams since we traded for Bryce - talent level, wins, etc.  Any metric will show that.  This year, we are improving.  Maybe we're not bottom tier trash.  Maybe we're just to below average.  That's growth as far as I'm concerned.  I'll take that.
    • In no universe does bryce have a stronger arm then Burrow or hurts.   And where did jt osullivan see bryce and stroud throw together?
