I love the ex-girlfriend perspective we always adopt when we let someone walk. Wait til he actually signs somewhere and you'll start hearing about how he was dead weight, a liability that could never live up to his potential etc etc.

Drafting Star (and then double dipping with KK) took us from the absolute worst DT combo in the league to one of the best. It's a shame we can't keep him on and look to improve elsewhere but that is how the NFL works. Good on him for whatever contract he can land. He'll be missed but luckily we think we've got some young talent ready to step up and maybe we can add a value vet to the rotation. It should workout well for everyone involved. no need for sour grapes by anyone.

people forget how thin our interior DL was in 2012.  it ended up wasting a career season for charles johnson and a breakout year from hardy.

and since we're on the topic, if you really feel like puking, look at this list:

  • andrew luck
  • robert griffin III
  • trent richardson
  • matt kalil
  • justin blackmon
  • morris claiborne
  • mark barron
  • ryan tannehill

those were the players drafted directly ahead of luke kuechly in 2012

Star was one of my favorite draft picks ever. He was THE guy I wanted that year and I thought we had little to no shot at him. That heart scare at the combine was probably the only reason we got him where we did. The equivalent this year for me would be Derwin James at #24.

people hate him but i'll always have a soft spot for walter football because they were one of the first outlets to mock star to us

supposedly hurney and rivera did too; even to the extent that if both him and luke were on the board, barron would have been the pick

i wanted quinton coples, poe, or cox for what it's worth.  i hated the kuechly pick when it came in.

me too

i was in denial about luke’s talent; i really didn’t want to see us draft another linebacker.

i wanted coples, brockers, cox, and poe
