Panthers trade Worley for Torrey Smith

Brutal trade. Smith is overpriced and declining.

Well, not that horrible.  He only makes 5 mill but we do take on some salary.  He has speed so not a terrible deal.  Hurney doesn't believe in Worley apparently and I don't think he is a huge loss to be honest.  We needed a speed WR and he is one.

So, we traded for a guy who is 29, and last year had 36 receptions for 430 yards and 2 TDs? Sure, he ran the 40 in 4.43, so he's fast, but 7+ years after the combine, I don't put much stock in that number.

And we gave up a young CB whom I felt still had upside and was learning. Not sure I like this at all.

We’ve got young WR talent.  Needed a vet. Worley sucks.  Love it.

Why trade young talent for an older player about to be released?

That's where my biggest question lies. I thought we were trying to get younger.

And yes, he was set to get released. Guess we just helped the Eagles (Johnny Rockets should chime in).

It was expected that we might go after a veteran receiver, but 29 is a little more veteran that I might have expected.

I do like Torrey Smith though. I guess he is in a Cotchery mode, though faster.

Why not trade Worley for Darby though?

only hurney could trade our #2 CB for a player who would be cut and probably signed for less than what his current contract is.... the windows closed boys, we are not doing poo this year. Loook up the 2014 49ers..... that is what we are staring down the barrel at gentleman.

So the Huddle whines when we let Ginn go.  And the huddle gripes that Worley is terrible and we must replace him.  So we go out and trade for another Ginn (who the Huddle loves) while getting rid of Worley (who the Huddle hates)...and the Huddle reacts by blaming Hurney for picking up a loser and getting rid of all pro Worley.

Makes sense.

On top of that some of you guys out n out hated Worley

Now you're bitching because we finally added a WR that's worth something.

All you guys bitched about was a Vet WR. We got one!!! And you still aren't happy.

FA hasn't even started yet and somehow "we're done that's all we needed at wr lol fug Hurney."

Holy poo you people are children.

I'm less upset about losing Worley and more upset about absorbing the contract of a guy who would have been cheaper on the open market.

Of course if he were to hit the market he would need to be convinced to sign here, which could be why we pulled the trigger because Hurney doesn't have faith that he could convince a FA WR to join the squad.

I don't know how I feel about this honestly. I think I'm too biased against Hurney to consider it a good move.

We have been discussing a need for a vet experienced WR for months.  When it happens everyone is dumbfounded.

Fair enough... can definitely see where you're coming from. Me personally though, I'm going to reserve judgment until we see how this all plays out with contract, ability to see the field, etc. I'm hopeful this was a good trade, but not too certain right now.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
