I don’t understand why anyone would be against this? We have a neee at back up TE. He is great physically, former 1st round pick, has put up decent numbers and is only 24. TE is a position that can take some time to develop and Ebron is still young. Look at Greg Olsen, a former first round pick as well who didn’t do well until he came to Carolina. We need to find a future replacement for Olsen and Ebron could be that guy. At worst he would be a solid back up.

If he is cheap then why not give he him a try?

If we can get him for $1-2 mil a year, sure, but otherwise... this guy is an uncoachable d-bag.

Run D will suffer, but it's far easier to find a run stuffing DT than a pass rushing DT.  Star was a nice player, but not worth what he was going to get on the open market.  My guess is that they use Vern Butler in Star's spot and Moton in Norwell's.

So they will use Vern to back up KK and rotate with Love?  That's mighty thin group you are going into battle with.  One injury away from disaster.

Better than Dickson in terms of being an offensive target Sans that one offensive explosion Dickson had.

Also a UNC product.

Can you explain why he's a better offensive target than Dickson other than the fact that he's older?  Their combines and measurables are basically identical.  Dickson also a much better blocker.  Their 2017 seasons weren't much different either, considering Ebron had a better passing QB and was the #1 TE option in Detroit.

More receiving yards in less years. I understand Dickson has been a 2 forever, but look at Olsen before Carolina.

Sure:

Ebron has more receptions and more yards than Ed Dickson has in half the seasons and almost 1/3 games played.

Ed Dickson - 124 Games Played - 178 Rec - 1,985 Yards - 12 TD (Avg Position Rank last 3 Seasons #42)
Eric Ebron - 56 Games Played - 186 Rec - 2,070 yards - 11 TD (Avg Position Rank last 3 Seasons #13)

Ebron has shown more usage and is more of an offensive target whereas Dickson is a great blocker.
