I really like this kid. Reminds me of a anquan bolden.

However, I really feel like there is a potential smokescreen here. We have been using a lot of resources to check out WRs....

does anyone know when Calvin Ridley will be on display? I’d like to see who of our scouts attend that.

I think Bama already had their Pro Day, we sent a crew down as I recall.

I would be shocked if Ridley fell to us at 24.

All along I have been hoping that Norv is someone that Hurney will listen to about player evals. Past experience says that he could use some good guidance.  I agree that Norv should be making a difference from free agency...to draft day...to game day.

I said before that I think Norv will make Rivera a better HC as well.  Maybe tutor him in game clock management and his hell bent loyalty to aging vets over young talent.

It was Feb 22. We did meet with Ridley at the pro day.  I like dj Moore more.  Lol. Better analytics, production, and age.  People always talk about him not being able to play outside and that Moore is just a slot receiver.  But he is just as tall and beats Ridley's very by 8 inches.  I did see him play an X in college. I don't see him as an X but I could be just fine as a Z or slot.

I hope we can land him in the 2nd IF we plan to play him outside on a lot of snaps as well. I think I'd rather pick up someone later/not at all to play a majority of snaps at the slot position; I like what we already have in Samuel, Wright and Byrd enough to not want to spend a 2nd round pick there with some other bigger needs on the team.

I've been trying to tell @thomas96. Moore looks like the real deal. For my money, "realer" than Ridley. LOL

And we’ll be at each other’s throat regarding it until we know for sure in 2-4 years! I like both and we’ll just have to see which turns out to be better.

I’m not his biggest fan but teams are really high on Moore. If we want him we will probably have to trade up. The way he is trending he won’t make it out of the teens.

I’m willing to bet he is the first receiver selected.

I do hope that  Norv brings a new fresh influence to this offense. It's for that reason that I think we will see a different draft than the past.  We have tried to win a ring with just a tough defense and it hasn't worked. (Except for last year's offensive draft). I have a feeling they might give him the reigns a little bit to aquire the pieces he needs to produce a potent offense.  Our defense will still be good.  And a  better offense will allow us to play better defense and pin their ears back.

Look back at the Saints game.  Dropped passes causing FG's while the Saints were scoring touchdowns.  Can't get a ring that way.

I look for a WR and a good TE in this draft. RB also, but need WR, TE first. IMO

Starting to feel like he's our guy if we go offense at 24.  With new owners coming in...

Hurney and Rivera's jobs are on the line, they're going to be aggressive.  Norv didn't come back without being told he could overhaul the offense.  Hurney has said he's getting Cam weapons.  Whether it's at 24, or a trade up in the 2nd, I think he's a target.  Also thinking more and more that we'll make our pick at 24, and trade up, since the elusive trade down never happens.

I dunno, it seems like there are a lot of teams looking at WR in the back half of the 1st round, and if he runs solid routes as a rookie, he could get snapped up by one of those teams.

Odell Beckham was listed by everyone as a 3rd round pick until he ran all the routes and then jumped up the boards.

others fall.  If this guy runs all the routes and comes out of breaks fast, and can clearly beat one on one coverage he will jump up too.

Saw this tweet regarding Turner working out DJ Moore...

Kinda reminded me that, while I do believe Norv Turner is going to be a better gameday coach than Mike Shula was, it doesn't stop there.

Turner has a resume' that includes a lot of successful offenses not just because he knows how to scheme and adjust. It's also because he knows personnel. Specifically, how to tell what their strengths and weaknesses are and how to best use them in our offensive attack.

His input on the scouting process should make it better on the offensive side of the ball. And frankly, we could probably use some improvement on that front.

Guess you could say having Turner could be a benefit year round rather than just during the season.

Three words;

THANK

YOU

JESUS

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
