I get confused about all these guys...but I know none of them are from the country where one of them bought a random company. It seems like the random speculation about Toronto is simply fueled by the idea that one of them recently bought a Canadian steel company. Which makes me scratch my head.

That's Kestenbaum, and I really don't think it means anything.

Like I said before, I get why it bothers people. It just doesn't bother me that much.

Totally agree with that sentiment. We have no idea how good or bad these owners may be.

My ultimate fear is the guy that gets the team is a Jimmy Haslam/Daniel Snyder type. We've experienced 1-15 in 2001 and 2-14 in 2010, those organizations consistently lose and I don't want to go near that rabbit hole.

Back to Navarro, the NFL will definitely want to vet him if they are concerned about his business practices. The FBI probe on Haslam surprised the league.

Word is that they're already vetting him, which tells me they take his bid pretty seriously.

As to Tepper, he's supposed to visit the stadium today.

Like ours?

Richardson isn't as bad as guys like Dan Snyder, but it'd be a stretch to call him one of the better ones given the team's inconsistent performance...not to mention "jeans day".

lol was going to say the same thing.

It’s pretty simple;

Tepper knows he’s the NFL’s favorite, so he figures he can low-ball the bid and still get in the Club. NFL will continue “vetting” the other potential owners in an attempt to make Tepper increase the bid. End of the day it’s still going to be Tepper, he’ll just pay more than he wanted.

From a recent Albert Breer column on MMQB under the "Four Downs" section (link)

Seems the sale process isn't quite going according to plan, and the guy who everyone expected to be the high bidder might actually be lowballing. NFL owners are saying it isn't as "clean" as they would have hoped.

Sounds like if Tepper had been the high bidder, this process might already be drawing to a conclusion.

I'm starting to wonder if the NFL might not be dragging things out a little in an effort to try and get Tepper to up his bid.

Moot point the teams won’t finish the bidding process till May.

people in the instant gradification crowed need to realize that if you’re about to pay several billion dollars you don’t just say yes and write a check.

I’m sure old man Richardson is up to something trying to sabotage the sale or doing something to throw a wrench into the negotiations.

lol... he wants the money at this point no need to sabotage that...

Here is what makes me concerned with Kestenbaum, and it has nothing to do with him buying a Canadian steel company.

There are other Panthers suitors on the fringes, one being mining industry executive Alan Kestenbaum, who is backed by Canadian investors.

It may just be that these Canadian investors want to own an NFL franchise and if that is all it is, that doesn't bother me in the least.

What bothers me is that they are Canadian and Toronto almost ended up with the Bills franchise a few years ago.

The Toronto metro area is approximately 6 million people.  If a group of Canadian businessmen purchase the Panthers you had better believe the thought of moving the franchise to Toronto has crossed their minds.

Businessmen from Oklahoma purchased the Seattle Sonics after claiming they had no intentions of moving the franchise to Oklahoma City.  Within a couple of years, guess what happened?

The actual bidding could be wrapped up within the next week or so. After that, the league checks out the guy whose bid was chosen by Richardson. In late May at the next round of owners meetings, the league votes to approve or disapprove the buyer.

I don't recall a situation where a potential owner was denied by the league, but it's obviously possible.

    • I'm more impressed with the UDFA that the guys they have drafted in the first the last 2 years. A whole lot of prove it is still needed before any improvement should be talked about seriously.
    • Sure.    ignore that he said this roster wasn’t good in 2023 to 2024 but keep up the effort
    • While I don't believe its a must win, (we have been better on the road this post season) it is definitely A NEED TO WIN the longer this series goes the more pronounced the Canes advantage on rest and health will be! If we hold serve at home in games 1 and 2 guaranteeing a 6 game minimum series for them if we lose the road games..... by the game 4 and 5 I expect them to be beat they have played A LOT OF HOCKEY the last three years, they have MINIMAL rest off a more physical than one might have expected series vs the leafs.... you know Tampa took their pound of flesh in round 1 from them. Combine all that with the fact that even though this year's canes squad isn't as talented as last years this IS a better squad than the one they swept last time that had McKenzie Mckeathern on line 1 Turbo with a broken hand a banged uo and eventually concussed Slavin (and even though it was a sweep 6 OTS and 4 1 goal losses is hardly dominant)  This year Bob hasn't been superman (hes probably gonna still have a great save percentage agiast us just a side effect of our style) Thatchuk is maybe 50% (3 game winners agiast us) their defense no longer has Gudas and several other downgrades.  While the Canes have a healthy and performing Svechnikov along with other big guys to counteract florida like Carrier, Jankowski, Robinson.   I by know means think it will happen but I either see this as a low scoring dog fight or a series were the canes surprise and end up dominating.
