Worley obviously lacks self-awareness, even for a 23 year old.

He lost playing time last year bc he was obviously underperforming and was oblivious to it. And to make matters worse, he openly fueded with the coaching staff who was trying to make him better.

In turn, Panthers basically gave him away in spite of his age and the draft investment.

The Eagles picked him up with a lot of secondary depth as a low risk investment. The Panthers got a decent receiver for what turned out to be below market value for a WR. Good trade for both teams.

So in addition to being a model citizen, Worley was going to have to play well to just make the team let alone see the field.

It was like in his mind he thought he was going "home" as a conquering hero and guaranteed a starring role when he was already considered damaged goods and completely expendable by the team that drafted and then traded him away and viewed as nothing but bottom of the roster depth who would have to fight not only playing time but even for a roster spot period.

Worley may get another chance due to his age and potential, but this year is almost assuredly shot as the Eagles will release him and he will be getting a suspension.

He has cost himself any chance of getting a lucrative long-term contract probably ever and he will have to fight to even make a roster going forward.

There is a good chance he doesn't play at all this year unless a team has injuries and needs to sign him to a minimum non-guaranteed contract during the season.

He will likely get a shot as a training camp body next season but that's it.

Tough fall for a 23 year old. Life comes at you fast, and will eventually teach you some self-awareness whether you're ready for it or not.

Normally I would say let's bring him back because we will make the eagles look stupid but no way in hell would I want Worley back . Possibly one of the worst corners I ever seen  in a panther uniform other then Antoine Cason

You haven't been a fan for long then. Worley wasn't bad as it generally takes 4 years to really adjust as a corner.

    • I think Chuba is better in pass pro. I think Chuba does a better job setting up blockers, while Dowdle tends to just want to juke or outrun defenders. He has more big play potential, but probably won't get you the consistent numbers. He'll get you in more 3rd and long situations. Now I'm actually excited to see Etienne get more burn. That kid has big play ability written all over him. And he is NOT a punt returner.
    • Maybe had you put it that way instead of dismissing the guy as a ‘radio’ I wouldn’t have pushed back. I get that. At the same time, he knows the team, he is brilliant at film diagnosis, highly disciplined and would have the instant respect of any and all players in that locker room. Coaches too probably. It is hard to overstate how good he was and that includes the mental side.  I wouldn’t bet against him. Give him a couple of seasons to get the job down.  I shouldn’t say every, but I bet it is every… OC or DC that got a HC gig has said they weren’t ready for everything that goes with being a HC. Totally different than the job they had been doing, because now they have to deal with everything and they didn’t even know what that was when they started.  edit: I guess a point I am trying to make with him is, you can work your way up through jobs but when you get promoted the job is not just a higher level of the job you were doing, it is a different job requiring new skills.  The failed HC ranks are full of great coordinators for that very reason.  I resist the dogma of you can’t be good at that unless you were good at LB coach or DC.  To me, Wilks wasn’t a real good DC but he somehow understood that HC job intuitively.
