fug Fitzpatrick. Could easily see Tampa nabbing him instead of James and if they do that, we need to be concerned with moving up. I just have a strong feeling Hurney makes this happen.

Dude the Derwin James infatuation is getting old, we are not giving up that much to get him. Isn't there someone else you can see us actually drafting and not dreaming about.

Looking at the trade value chart, a jump like that is around 310 points.  Our second round pick is 350 points.  My guess is we'd have to get rid of our second, which ain't happening.

Have you met Marty Hurney? He'll give up a 2nd and one of our 3rds. And maybe next year's first.

God, I hate trade ups. With the hit rate in the draft, you maximize your number of picks, controlling for round of course. Law of large numbers people.

This draft has three rounds of quality players. No point trading away a potential starter for a marginally better player. Got some Hurney jrs. up in this mug.

After Hurney's failed trades in the past you can bet he is sticking at 24 and getting the most bang for his buck.

Yep!  When he signed back with us, he said one of the things he learned from watching Gettleman is to be patient.  So, I don't think you will see him revert and panic by trading a valuable asset to move up.

There are pro bowl caliber safeties still on the market. Safeties are going to fall like rocks and idt anyone is going up to get them. I’m starting to think guys like Tony Pauline may be right...I also think that if it’s down to James and one of the corners that hurney likes...he’s gonna go corner. Fitzpatrick is another story bc he can play essentially any position in the secondary. I just don’t see Hurney spending a 1st on a true safety when guys like Boston, Reid are still out there. Corner is much more valuable.

Maybe I’m naive, but I think a 3rd can do it. If we trade up, i think it’ll be for DJ Moore. We’d have to jump Dallas to get him.

That’s the only scenario I can see us trading up

We don't like DJ Moore as much as everyone thinks we do.

Hurney is trading next years 1st

Please don’t even joke about this.  It’s I still have nightmares about not having a first round pick two drafts in a row and nothing to show for it.

Normally I agree but James is a physical anomaly and worth a first rounder. I would pick a corner over any other safety in the first.

    • Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk. In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.
    • As far as the NFCS … I think this division will be hotly contested the next couple of years.   I am tending to pay more respect to both Atlanta and the Saints n terms of how strong they will be moving forward, than not.    I am mixed on Ryan but think they have a decent roster to start with. I don’t think he blundered hiring Stefanski. And that offense can be dangerous with a QB. Plus, defense is arrow up. No 1st round pick, WB issues will dull their effectiveness. Question is, to what degree?   I think Moore is going to be a good HC and can overcome tape that people have on Shough. They need a lot but they were playing with people. Just the way you want to see all the way to the end.    Not sure about Tampa they have Mayfield but I don’t think they can maintain their success and Bowles is not going to last much longer. They have to go through all that. Gonna be tough once it starts. Might already have started.    For us I feel pretty good about Morgan. But less so about our offense, we have some short term RB and OL issues and those things are critical given what we are working with at QB.  Overall, mixed. Like a lot of what I see but some major question marks remain.
    • Absolutely. If we are talking about a 20 year old youngster. He's a grown-ass man, and he doesn't know what his job entails or how to do it? Maybe he will be better next year! It's the Panther way.
