For how many of you is this your first Hurney draft

If we get two consistent starters out of this draft, we are par for the course for most NFL drafts by most teams.  If we get three, we should consider ourselves lucky, because we beat the odds.

Most disappointing move so far was trading back though.  What we got doesn't seem worth it, but I guess you never really know.

Hi been here since 2008 season. My first draft was the 2009 season. When we traded up for Everette Brown.

I was here for Armanti Edwards.

I was here for Jimmy Clausen.

Terrell McClain, Sione Fua.

This wasn't a typical Hurney draft. But it also was.

Gettleman when he was here laid out a very solid foundation for the future. Left us with Bradberry, Trai, Shaq, Butler and Darryl Williams, all while working with Ron to coach a team to the playoffs three times.

However Gettleman is very old fashioned. Isn't. Super the best at scouting skill positions....or being a people person.

I also think Ron and Marty learned the type of players and people to look for when drafting players and bringing in FA. This off-season for Hurney has been the most Gettleman like thing. He bought in FA that fit our scheme and fit our budget. He also didn't gamble as much, he fugin' let Norwell and Star walk. He didn't throw an absurd amount of money and resigned Greg at a reasonable rate.

Another thing that gives me hope is; Ron and this coaching staff are miles ahead of whatever John Fox had. Hurney got the guys John Fox liked, big slow WRs and TEs that could run block. DTs that can run stuff. corner backs that could cover. That's on Fox's stubbornness to his scheme and knowing jack poo on the offense. We didn't even SCOUT Jimmy Clausen.

Now it's on Rivera and co. To develop these players who all fit what we want to do on defense and offense very well and all show they can come in and fit into their role.

Moore is gonna give us YAC but is already fit into his frame and has the size to play outside, and has the natural speed at 210 to evolve into a deep threat. All he needs to do is expand his route tree.

Jackson is basically gonna do what we were gonna pay Breeland to do but is faster and younger. He can cover the #2 and the slot and do a great job at it.

Gauldenis a wonderful, smart player who, I honestly think can be the defensive version of Kamara. I can see us using him a lot like Mathieu. He can cover the slot or the TE, play deep and tackle. He might honestly be my favorite player this draft.

Thomas can come in, be our TE #2 and be groomed behind Olsen. I don't know what more you can ask for.

Haynes is a pure pass rusher, and that's fine. He's gonna come in on 3rd downs as a DE or OLB and just add pressure.

Everything else has been depth (TD is out for 4 games and Luke's health can be shaky of course we need a back LB, LBs are important to us). But that's 5, 5 rookies who can come in and help this team be better day 1.

Do we still have holes? Of course we do every team has holes, but we got a hell of a lot better.

I honestly can't say I've felt this good about a Hurney or Gettleman draft class.

Shiiiitt.....Star/Short/Klein is still the best draft we've had over the last several years...including this one.

KK is a better player than anyone we just drafted this or last year.....by a large margin.

Most are saying hes had a good draft.

CBS has given the Panthers draft multiple A's, with lowest grade a C+.

Grades from today B, A, C+.

NFL network gave the Panthers an A on the first three picks. Havent seen grades for today.

Hurneys drafts always got good grades by the pundits. He got an A+ for drafting Jimmy Clausen. Who cares what his grades are

Lol no poo Short is a 5 year vet.

You must not forget how people here were mad when we double dipped on DTs that year. A lot of people thought it was a waste of a pick because we didn't draft a WR or OT.

not really. like what OT or WR taken between Short and Kugbila were people pissed the Panthers didn't draft?

Were there a ton of Stedman Bailey fans or something? Obviously Keenan Allen was drafted, but no one on here knew anything about him. Same with Terron Armstead, who was the kind of player the Saints always seem to find.

Off the top of my head all I remember people posting about was DJ Swearinger, but that's just because south Carolina fans are delusional.

You didn’t get enough of your useless Hurney bashing out in the other threads? You had to make another thread to bitch and moan in?

When the Giants go 2-14 again this year hopefully the Gettleman people will go away. It's kind of sad really.

I mean hindsight now yeah obviously Short was a smart pick. If there was a redraft now Short would be gone before our first pick.

Just a few guys I remember being liked around here: Aaron Dobson, Allen (who was falling and a Cal guy, people thought Ron would love him.), Margus Hunt, David Amerson, Mathieu, and as you mentioned, Swearinger and Bailey.

This was the same year people loved Austin because he was short and fast therefore the next Steve Smith.
