So, the scout he used a racial slur on. Is that something that matters or nah?

I'd add it wasn't just one employee that was sexually harassed. There were at least three, and probably more who just didn't pursue anything.

For that matter, there may have been more employees that Richardson used racist language toward as well.

Yeah I definitely loathe a guy I've never met before.

Also funny how you're here defending Jerry Richardson and telling others they need to seek help. Absurd

I have perspective. I used to work a job where I had to be around murderers and rapist/child rapists all the time, so excuse me if a creepy grandpa doesn’t exactly get on my that’s fuged up radar. Becuase it doesn’t

I'm sure JR knows how much you love and admire him Marty.

Hurney is basically the polar opposite of JR. He's a stand up guy and was very classy about parting ways with the team. When he did the radio gig he was very gracious and even interviewed Gettleman on air a few times. His ex wife is batshit crazy and the NFL cleared him of any wrong doing rather quickly because of that.

Hurney is also the guy who fell on the sword multiple times for J.R. The 2010 season was all Richardson and the only time a Hurney led team won less than 7 games. To put that in perspective Gettleman has a 6 win team and a 7 win team in 4 seasons vs Hurney being the GM for over a decade.

Multiple beat writers have also credited the horrible contract decisions made in 2011 to J.R'S ego vs Hurney all of a sudden changing his M.O. So thats another time we know Hurney fell on the sword for him.

I'm sure there were other time's he did as well. I think the reason Richardson even brought him back was to atone for mistakes/ making Marty the scapegoat.

they could take Jerry out of that piece and it would one of the most bad ass statues I've ever seen.

I still love the fact that they didn't skimp on the... erp... anatomy... of the panthers :Eggplant_Emoji_Icon_42x42:

sometimes, for the benefit of little virgin eyes they don't add genitalia to statues like that, but its hilarious to me that Jerry decided to have them there.

sophomoric I know, but it IS funny.

now we just need Tepper to ensure that the balls are polished so that the bronze shows XD

He paid him too last time I heard

Yes he did, but knowing that he called that man a slur, I’m wondering is it something I should be outraged about? Is it something that matters? Honestly, what difference does it make that he paid him? He still used that word, and now, I think it would be a safe bet to assume he’s used that word before. That’s kind of a big deal, and it matters.

Of course you can say, he employs many athletes that look like that scout, but it’s obvious they didn’t trigger him in a way that scout did.

Theres obviously people in here who aren’t giving the man the praise most in here feel he deserve. I think those people are justified in their lack of praise.

Quoted for truth.

there is a bad trend today in the USA and it’s not just on here but other venues of social media too, it’s called outrage culture.

Seriously if I’m outraged about something it’s something that matters, yeah Jerry sexually harassed one of his employees but last time I checks he paid her an amount of money that  She said was enough to make up for the harrassment.

soooooo true!  Slightly random on listening to NPR they had Condolisa Rice on (never a big fan as I am not a democrat but after listening to her I realized she is as sharp as they come) and she said this which stuck with me:

RICE: These days, we seem to be dividing ourselves into ever smaller groups, each with its own grievance, each with its own narrative. Increasingly, we just yell at each other. We don't talk to one another.

We can agree to disagree - gratitude is a personal thing.  Do I expect him to come here and read it?  No - but as been stated before by Zod that players do come here.  Maybe word gets out...maybe not - my gratitude doesn't change.

It doesn't condone what he did.  My personal thoughts are the punishment seems far worse than the crime(s).  Matter of subjectivity I guess.  Was it the Colts owner with the prescriptions?  Is that worse than what JR did?  Does a victim who takes a buyout (?) still a victim?  (My answer is yes...(Cosby duh)...JR didn't rape anyone though.....racist?  maybe....

I didn’t know what to do when you started leaving me suggestive handwritten notes, insisting that I reply and then destroy the note. I didn’t know what to do when you summoned me to your personal office, instructed me to sit in the chair across from you, pulled my chair towards you so you could sandwich my legs, which you proceeded to rub, between yours. I didn’t know what to do when you called me to your stadium suite in the middle of the week so you could take off my shoes, place my legs in your lap and rub their entire length, from toes to crotch. I didn’t know what to do when you asked me to turn around so you could see how my jeans looked. I didn’t know what to do when you brushed my breasts to put my seat belt around me in the front seat of your car. I didn’t know what to do when you put your hands on my mouth, for me to kiss them. I didn’t know what to do when you asked me uncomfortable, sexually charged questions.

Quote

The handwritten notes read as follows:

A. "The week before we play New England please do the following:
① manicure
② pedicure
③ facial
④ hair stuff
⑤ wear lip gloss
I want all of us to be at our best that week-end"

B. "④ If I could...I'd pamper you more. Rub your feet. Shave your legs. Put lotion on your body - etc, etc"

C. "④ you did not answer my questions – – Do you think of me as:
① your grandfather
② your second father
③ your second husband
④ your friend
⑤ your boyfriend
⑥ or something else –

I regret I have never been able to give you pleasure – "]

Quote

You left me secret envelopes of cash with specific instructions for manicures and pedicures and “pampering”. You told me you were taking care of me.

Do you realize how much you hurt me? I don’t trust anyone because of you. I couldn’t have a real relationship because of you. I have low self-esteem because of you. I am insecure because of you. I suffered from anxiety and depression because of you. I feel shame because of you. I am a damaged person because of you.

Did you know that sexual harassment and assault is against the law in North Carolina? I can only hope you donate your new billions to a credible non-profit organization that might make something good out of something so wrong.

He shouldn't get a pass just because he's rich enough to be able to make things go away. Those things still make him a pretty lousy person

It is more complex than that.  Lets not cherry pick here:

https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/05/17/carolina-panthers-sale-david-tepper-mmqb-albert-breer

"Jerry Richardson has done some pretty fantastic things. He brought an NFL team to the Carolinas, and I have personally witnessed him change lives with his financial generosity. "

This, from his accuser in her Sports Illustrated letter.  If we huddlers post that, even admitting his crimes, we're crucified.

JR fuged up.   I wish she'd press charges, so there'd be a trial and the truth be out.  Instead we have this accusation through corporate  news.

He could have left largely a hero.  Instead, here we are in a situation where, those who want to bid a final farewell and thank you to the man for the "fantastic things" he has done, are attacked as sexist enablers.

Whatever.

Thanks for the team Jerry.  Sorry to his accusers for his crimes.  If you want true justice and believe he committed a crime, press charges.  I understand why you don't, but then you have to understand why some of us struggle with getting only one side of the story.
