LaCanfora talks about the sale...

The city will almost certainly do whatever it takes, and give him whatever he wants, in order to keep the team here.  I'm sure he knows that so why not squeeze them for every penny.  The rest of us can expect another $50 a night in hotel fees, along with a slew of other new taxes to pay for this giveaway to the uber rich.  And here we were thinking only Republicans were in the pocket of the evil big business.

I'm sure he'll start with some stadium upgrades, but they're going to be pretty short term and we're about 5 years away from starting the process of getting a new stadium.

Here's what's concerned me for a while: just where is this new stadium going to go? 277 is so tightly wound around uptown that it limits options. Is there some obvious site that I'm missing? I remember reading about a possible site near Carowinds, that sounds like it may have been the South Carolina option that Rapoport tweeted that another possible owner wanted. If so, we can probably shut the door on Carowinds.

Isn't there a site near BOA that they can build it.  Talk was the Carolina pipe site.

As far as funding Tepper will squeeze the city and state, for as much as he can.  So I would expect 80% paid for by the city/state.

I don't think the city and state can or will pony up 80% of $1.5 ish billion. You might see something more along the lines of what happened in Atlanta where public money accounted for about 600 million of the 1.6 billion stadium.

The only way his abrasiveness towards employees affects anyone on the Huddle is that I feel bad for guys like Bill Voth or Mike Kraft or Mick Mixon that may be fired or have to deal with that on a daily basis, but there are millions of people out there that have to deal with uncertainty at work or a mean boss. And honestly, the people that will have to deal with Tepper on a daily basis are likely to be people we've never heard of so I can't care about their feelings too much.

Tell me again, your stance on the allegations against Richardson.

No chance in hell does he go in 50/50. Paul Allen has $20 billion and he would only agree to pay for 30% of the cost of a new stadium plus cost overruns in Seattle and that was 20 years ago.

And you think the team won’t move, because the city of Charlotte will somehow find $1.5 billion in taxes?

You don't get to a $12billion net worth being nice. He has high expectations, we sugar coat and care way too much in this country

I do kind of get the impression that the days of the team being run like a family are probably over.

The difference between Gettleman being a douche and an owner is that players and agents don't interact with an owner much so douche or not it won't impact the locker room or negotiations where as a GM it certainly will. Unless Tepper is going to be like Jerry Jones on which case we are screwed.

That’s what I’m saying. It’s gonna have to come from somebody though or else

Here is a cold hard truth I will say as a PSL owner:  Expect the new stadium to be at least 50% funded by NEW PSLS and even heavier on the club psls (think lower level clubs and even an upper deck club on the 50s).  If the new round of PSLS is in say 10 years that will be a 35 year psl run.  Not shabby.  Throw PSL owners a 15% off for "re upping" and this will pay for a large portion of the new stadium.  Have Tepper throw in 20% and the city 20% and it shouldn't be hard to finance.

Watch as this unfolds.....this guy will not be a good owner. This will end up being like the situation in Washington where we never have a good coach and when we do the two will butt heads and the coach will be gone.
