Charlotte native, CB Adonis Alexander, entering Supplemental Draft

It's hard to say what pick I would use on him without being able to talk to him, which obviously I can't do.  Academic ineligibility isn't the worst thing in the world, but it could be a sign that he's lazy.  I mean, unless he's dumb, all you gotta do is try in class to stay eligible.  I mean you just need a what, 2.0 GPA to play in the NCAA?

Probably a decent chance that he mailed it in last year academically planning to enter the 2018 draft but then after having a relatively lackluster season he decided to try to go back to school instead but the academic damage had already been done.

How many young corners do we need on one team?  Most everyone on this board wants to keep 6 corners that we already have on the roster now and you want to add another?  Ron has never kept 6 active corners on the team going into the season and you add this guy and you want to keep 7?  I don't see it.

Quantity doesn’t necessarily equate to quality. We have a lot of CBs. I’m not certain that we have any quality CBs. Sometimes you just have to keep throwing mud at the wall until something sticks.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of teams weren’t evaluating this guy as a potential safety anyway.

As a hokie fan, wouldn't mind him. But good grief last year was forgettable. Big time athlete though. Greg Stroman outplayed him all year and didn't garner a 4th. And stro had good return skills.

Not really buying into him here unless it's a 5th knowing he is a ST gunner at best this year and. A stash for later.

I wait to see if he drops to the 6th.

I might move him to S.

He is a bit inconsistent-on and off field.

There's no "waiting" in the supplemental draft. You bid a pick by the round and if multiple teams bid picks in the same round, then it reverts to the same drafting order as the regular 2018 NFL draft.

Makes sense.  I bid our 6th.

Pretty much, but the order is actually determined by lottery.  The 32 teams are separated into 3 tiers based on last year’s results, then a weighted lottery determines the actual order.

    • Well, hope they're not worried about a torn Labrum or Rotator Cuff, as someone who went through that myself, I know those don't have anything show up on X-Rays but from the MRI, so this is kinda a nothing update, hope it's not a tear or his season is already over if they decide to do surgery now. Which is basically what would be needed to get him to 100% for the start of next season's training camp if it's a labrum.  If he plays the season with it and then does surgery, he's not going to be ready for camp and probably not the start of the season either.
    • I always try to not pay much attention to a team’s preseason win/loss record. The 1982 Washington and 2021 LA Rams both lost every game in the preseason and went on to win the Super Bowl, whereas the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns both won every game in reason and went on to lose every regular season game. There’s many examples of teams that lose in preseason that go on to have good seasons, but equally there are teams that lose in preseason and that continues in the regular season. Which will we be?  I think our floor is a handful of wins, while our ceiling will probably be around the 9-10 win mark. The latter will require significant improvement from the whole team and coaching staff, and will also need Bryce to play like the QB we drafted him to be. I want to be optimistic and predict a winning season, but it’s really difficult as a Panthers fan!
    • Cos he looks much better?
