With training camps opening sometime next month, you'll likely see a few final free agent signings between now and then.

Here's one you may not like.

Ron Parker, the former Chiefs safety who had previously spent a little time as a Panther (and who some were hoping would spend more time as a Panther) is signing with the Falcons.

Also on the safety front, Tre Boston turned down a chance to play for Steve Wilks because he said the offer was "very very disrespectful" (PFT)

I'm not sure what would have constituted a "respectful" offer in his mind, but with training camps just around the corner, if you get an offer you should probably take it.

He's waiting till someone gets hurt.

Ego can be a very bad thing.   If the season starts soon and you are still home watching American Idol reruns you might want to take what you can get and prove yourself.

The big fallacy with DBs.. One gets 5 interceptions and makes 76 tackles in a season and makes the pro bowl.  The other gets 1 interception and makes 48 tackles.

However, the second one is throw at 21% of the time, the first is throw at 54% of the time.

Who is better?

Anytime you make the QB throw the other direction, you are better than one who does not, which is why I rarely use INTs and Tackle stats to rate DBs.

Boston's "good year" may have been freakish luck because he saw a lot of balls.

I'll put this here since we don't have a supplemental draft thread

In supplemental draft news: Former Western Michigan CB Sam Beal just ran a 4.40 40-yard dash at his pro day, according to someone there. Solidified that he’s one of the top prospects in the Supplemental Draft in years.

It still fits.

And for the record, the Panthers were in attendance for this one. In fact, all 32 teams attended.

Right on and fair.

I haven’t been as critical of Rivera as most but that doesn’t mean I’m blind either.

Fan of his or not, I’m a realist. This business is “win or learn”. Even the most ardent supporters question competency with a lack of results or consistency.

If this season is a disappointment I have a pitchfork within arms length.

If we don’t break the Carolina Curse of never having consecutive winning seasons Tepper might have a pitchfork
