Before ppl go cliff jumping let's find out who is really in this competition.. By most beat writer reports Cockrell wasn't getting the work that Seymore, and Donte are getting.  Honestly I've heard more about Doss and Corn getting more reps in..

He was gonna be 2nd/3rd string. Nothing more than a backup. It's not like Darrell Revis or JNo caliber.

Was Cockrell getting 1st or 2nd team reps?

I don't remember seeing his name on any of the rep observations for the secondary..

He wasn’t getting first team reps. I can only assume he was getting second team reps but like you, yesteday was the first time I’d heard his name even being mentioned.

Bradberry and Seymour were getting first team reps, with Jackson also getting some work there. Captain first team nickel and I assume Elder backing him up.

I just looked at the photo. Keep in mind I am not a doctor, but I'll be grad school next month and I currently work in a rehab hospital, and look at these kind of injuries all the time. I have not een any of his imaging.

That said, the photo isn't really that bad.

I can't tell if it's an open fracture from the picture, because those surprisingly don't bleed that much. the biggest concern with a break like that, especially with its proximity to the ankle, is vascular damage. The reason they rushed him to the hospital is so they could CT scan him and make sure he's still getting blood flow to the foot.

Advice: if you're ever playing softball or whatever and you see a break like this, write the time down on the person's foot. That way when they get to the ER, the doctors will know how long they've potentially been without bloodflow to the foot. Also, you can check for a pulse in the foot. If you don't feel it, impress the ladies and tell 911 you need a CTA waiting for him at the ED. Say stat or something.

As far as what's going to happen to him, if reports are true that it's a tib/fib and not just one or the other, then he's looking at whats called an Internal Reduction External Fixation. Essentially this means they're going to open up his leg, put everything back where it needs to be, then sticking a bunch of pins through him and locking it down outside the leg. After 4-6 weeks or so, they'll go back in and repair it AGAIN. So yeah he's not playing again this year.

If it was just one or the other, and it was the right kind of break, he could return this year. I saw a guy in the ED once with a broken fibula with his foot pointing like 135 degrees the wrong way. He was putting light pressure on it ten days later.

Spot on.. Great Write up.

If it is Tib/Fib.. in that location... or even a Tib, I would say he is done.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

Voth says it's season ending.

He won't play at all this year.

Oh. He was supposed to be a great zone cb which means he would have done well here.

atleast Seymour and Jackson have 4.3 speed.

doss now has a real chance at making the team.

I can't say it completely doesn't count. I didn't think much of Wilks as a DC either, but Bradberry still looked bad out there.

I think Poe is an upgrade over Star but I'm still concerned that a Peppers fall off at DE would leave us hurting there.

We still have a elite DE in Mario.

    • As I've said numerous times the last few days, having Thielen on the field has literally 0% to do with my views on this (I've even said I think Renfrow is going to take a ton of snaps from Thielen anyways).  He has more value to this team without playing a single snap than a 2026 5th round draft pick does for the franchise.   His value is helping set up T-Mac, XL, Coker, and Horn for long term success by helping them learn how to be pros, how to go about their business, how to train, how to do all the little things that helped turn Thielen from a D2 undrafted player into a borderline Vikings legend.
    • He only wants to be traded because it's the Vikings who are calling. If he didn't want to be here, he could have retired, instead he took a pay raise to come back for another season.  I get it, it's an opportunity that he'd like to take, but we shouldn't cut off our nose to spite our face because he now wants to jump at this opportunity less than two weeks before the season starts. I'm not against trading him, I'm just against trading him for a return that doesn't help our team as much as having him on the roster would.  I'll put it this way, if a 5th is the best we can get for him from the Vikings and he's now dug in on not wanting to stay this year, I'm saying screw you and trading him to any of the other 30 teams besides the Vikings for the best offer we can get. He was perfectly happy here a week ago, if the Vikings soured him on that and then want to get him for peanuts, then screw them both.
    • Yes and no, he wants to go back and his wife most definitely wants to go back. He took a bunch of team mates to Minny and has worked out with JJ two offseasons in a row. It's where both him and his wife are from.    The money was basically a please come back and help Bryce. Pretty please...here's some more money.    Now he's agreed to a paycut to go back to the Vikings.
