Panthers sign Kiante Anderson, DE from ECU

I don't know anything about him but, we've just signed defensive end Kiante Anderson, an undrafted rookie out of East Carolina, waiving defensive end Karter Schult (I didn't know him either). Kiante Anderson is a 6-foot-3, 260-pounder, spent most of training camp with the Buccaneers before being waived. The North Carolina native had 4.5 sacks and forced two fumbles at ECU last season. I don't know if he's just a camp body or competition for DE's or maybe provide some good depth. Draft Scout has his 40 time at 4.8...

Ecu was absolutely terrible last season. They won 3 games. Every unit sucked. I’m surprised anyone on that team is getting a look.

this is a pretty common thing because local scouts for teams can usually scout local talent easier.

Camp / Pre-Season Body to limit reps, and try to avoid injury. 

Can't see anything beyond that, Cox Jr // Odaba are likely headed to the PS as it already is I don't see us tying up three spots on the PS for another UDFA DE.

As an ECU fan, they were pretty awful, especially the defense. They were last in just about every defensive category. Plus, Kiante was the guy that got most of the sacks.

He was a walk-on that ended up earning a scholarship through sheer determination and hard work.  One of the few bright spots on the roster the past couple seasons, especially on defense.

He's a good college DE, by any measure.  Big, quick, strong, and has a high football IQ.  Doesn't do stupid things.  

I don't expect him to make the team... but I would never count Kiante out, honestly.

Trevon Brown is going to be one of the better WR's in the next NFL draft.  No matter how badly we may suck, we keep turning out NFL wide receivers.  He is a legit NFL deep threat WR with size and wins the 50/50 balls every time.

6'2" 215lbs - Had 1,069 receiving yards and 7 TD's last season.  He is the only guy that teams bracket or double, and he still produces.

@ Houston (141 yards, 2 TD)

ECU football is a joke, and it’s a toss up between them and UNC-Charlotte as the worst program in the state - and I would probably lean towards EZU since their entire athletic program is being audited for improper use of funds. 

Happy for the kid that he will get to live out his dream for about 2 weeks but if he makes the team then we are a lot worse off than I thought.

Wow, Kevin Dodd must have a bad rep going if we are choosing someone like this over a player with, IMO, more potential at the same position....and also someone that we looked at during his draft year.
