Saints did the same thing with Peterson and yall laughed because it was such a "terrible move" by them lol.

For years it's been yall will be terrible when Drew retires. Finally have a replacement and it was a bad move too lol.

yeah but this is a tough call...if he wants starting QB money long term, we're talking 20 mill per year at least.  Has Drew told the Saint's this is his last year?  I don't think even Loomis could work out a 2019 season where the QBs are getting 60 mill.

If you want to watch him this year before a long term, I could see cutting Klein or someone to make the numbers work (if his money isn't guaranteed) but ...this is going to take some serious cap voo doo...I understand all in this year, but this....umm

I don't think this is all in this year. I think this is a future investment. I don't think Teddy goes from 1 year for $6 million to big money on the back of one preseason, but I could be wrong.

I think its a dam good move for them

Only issue and thing that would scare me is where is he going to squeeze into yalls cap Space the next few years until Bree's retires.  He's not going to be cheap.  He11 Mike Glennon got 3 years 45 Mil last year by the Bears, and Bridgewater is better than him

You may have to cut a key role players and not resign Ingram just to be able to hold onto him.  And with no 1st and 3rds, that limits you to the wnd to fill that hole lost cutting someone

I don't worry about the cap. If they couldn't make it work, they wouldn't have traded for him.

I'll also say this for everyone involved. Sean and Drew are ridiculously close. They've been together for 12 years now. Drew commented this offseason on talking with his family about retirement and it being a decision for all of them. He's got young kids and is approaching 40. I would assume Sean has a good idea about how much longer we can expect Drew to be our QB.

A replacement that suffered a horrific knee injury, didn't play for 2 years, wasn't spectacular before the injury? One that isn't signed for next year, one they could have signed for a lot less this offseason?

Incredibly dumb move if they didn't extend him. You will have a essentially given the Jets a third for a guy who may not play, with no guarantees he'll be there after this year. Combine this with them trading their future 1st from the previous draft, and their on their way to being irrelevant. Just like they have been for most their existence once Brees retires.

Much easier to deal with cap hits than losing draft picks, esp. when you've already traded away your first from next year.

I think it's simple to look at. If you want a franchise QB, you're giving up more than a 3rd. If the Saints drafted a QB in the 3rd round in 2019, nobody would bat an eye, and the chances of him succeeding are slim.

This is an utter fail if Bridgewater doesn't ever play for the Saints. If you look at it any other way, this is a damn good deal for us.

    • We should have drafted Isaiah Bond instead of Jimmy.
    • I don't want to give the appearance that I and the Nostrah Dumbass of this board because I miss a lot when trying to analyze talent, but I was all over Coker before the draft.  I wanted the Panthers to take him on day 3.  When he did not get drafted, I started banging the drum for him.  Apparently, they agreed.  (All Hail, MHS!! All Hail).  I also thought we should have drafted a DT (Marcel Dareus) over Cam Newton and give Clausen another year to develop.  (Boo, MHS!!!, Boo to you!!!)  All that to humble myself.   Coker is not blazing fast, but he runs good routes and has perhaps the best hands in the NFL.  I am tired of drops.  He is of high character---a guy you can support--unlike some of these other WR divas in the NFL.   Lock him up long term-I am guessing a deal in the $10m range (after yesterday) would not be out of the question.  He had around 400 yards this season, so let's keep yesterday as a good game and not a coming-out. We need a consistent deep threat, imo, an explosive WR with good hands.  Imagine that.  XL? Maybe its back to road kill and Dolla Bill.  Maybe this league was not meant for you.  Nothing wrong with giving it a shot, making some bank, and returning to your home.  Morgan?  Your worst move so far.  Learn from these "one hit wonders."
