I was a little surprised when the roster was set over the weekend and checked out the Panthers depth chart at their website.  It listed Curtis as 3rd string.  Started to post about it, but figured I just don't know a lot about depth charts and all our guys are gonna play.

then we heard yesterday that Curtis didn't practice yesterday because he was  "sick" or had an "illness."

He didn't practice today either.

 

RR on Curtis Samuel: “He’s dealing with a medical issue. He’s meeting with the doctors.” That’s all he’ll share. Should know more if on injury report tomorrow.

 

Could be nothing, but Ron is being much more cagey this year (or getting caught) with medical issues.  Last week, Matt K was "being evaluated on a day to day basis".  Now he's on IR.

Rivera said Curtis Samuel is dealing with a medical issue. Sunday he said he was sick. I asked if they were related and he said he wasn’t sure.

Yeah, I hope he's okay.

It's really frustrating when a player who works his ass off and does everything asked of him struggles with medical conditions or injuries beyond his control. And anyone that showed the improvements year over year that Samuel showed this preseason is definitely working his ass off.

That kind of thing sucks, but it generally goes away.

Normally I'd agree, but it's concerning that yesterday he was "sick" and today he's "dealing with a medical issue". Hopefully I'm just reading too much into that.

Well, given how much doublespeak there is coming from teams on this kind of thing, it's hard to know when to be concerned and when not to.

not saying you shouldn't be concerned...

but I would put zero stock in the depth chart on Panthers.com as a reason for it.  That depth chart has nothing to do with the coaches depth chart and the oddities/pointlessness of it entering a season  have been addressed for seasons.

Maybe, but let's be real. We're all proxy hypochondriacs when it comes to injury reports.
