Definitely a cheap shot by Irvin.  I think he might feel some heat that Smitty might be a better broadcaster than him too.  Smitty came out firing like he always does.  lol

Irvin wasn’t throwing shade.  It was the truth.  Smitty was in decline, but was the same mentally as he was here.  It was a little sad to see all of a sudden that Baltimore couldn’t develop young receivers just like we never could when he was here.  Also, he demanded the ball and their offense suffered just like the San Fran game when he wouldn’t come out, but couldn’t accelerate. The best game he had in Baltimore was against us because he was highly motivated and some insanely lucky bounces.  

Irvin & Smitty Both were good, but Irvin was a three time champion & worked hard during his time in the league too.  And I find it funny that Steve lost his mind flipping out over commentary even though he is supposedly past all that.  That is why at the time he had to go.  Bum ass Reggie Bush trying to instigate too.

I think there's always some low-key beef there.  Smitty threatened to beat Irvin's ass for making jokes about his suit one day because his wife picked it out for him.  Irv begged him to forgive him for it and said he didn't mean anything by it, but ever since then it has seemed awkward between them.

Smith, even at an older age, has the better statistical season as a Raven compared to Boldin.

Irvin shouldn't have said that, period. It was low class, and he should have known better. 

Smith was the better route runner, and probably the better overall receiver.

Keep in mind that they weren't playing by themselves. Irvin had the easier road, and that really isn't even debatable.

Smith should have clapped back.

Yet he was still their best receiver when he retired???  Better than Boldin ever was for them.  Don't really understand the logic here...  Basically everything in your statement is a fabrication.

I don't really understand how Irvin thinks Boldin was any good either.  I was a pretty sorry when he played for the Ravens.  He didn't make much of a difference for them.

 

Flacco fell in love with Smith pretty quickly and fed him the ball a lot.
