Question...can we find $ to sign Reid after 2018?

I hate to have him for only one season and then let him walk. I guess the feeling may be that we go big for the position in the draft so he is a stop gap for one year. Do you all feel that this may be the case in their decision to sign him for one year? If not, how can they find the $ to retain him?

If he balls out, he might take a friendly deal b/c we did sign him when no one else would. If he's serviceable, let him walk and hopefully Gaulden is ready. But a 26 year old safety, in all honesty, he should be here for the next ten years. We have a lot of people retiring so having his leadership would be huge going forward.

This. If he plays the same way he did in San Fran (minus concussions), no reason not to find some money to sign him

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
