consistency, doing too much...missed opportunities...its a 4th qtr game...yadda yadda yadda...

Rivera and staff putting the responsibility solely on player execution is quite the trend. For a supposed "player coach" Rivera and crew sure are quick to throw their players under the bus in the media.

Here is what I saw--understand that I am a novice like all of you.   Our defensive backs were lost early on.  Alex Smith looked like Tom Brady. I saw Poe and Short--right near the ball-jump offsides at key times in the game---they are highly paid veterans.  Focus issues?  I saw Butler and Love penetrating on the back side of run plays, not sliding back inside to stop the cutback. In addition, they are not keeping the OL off Luke.  I have no idea whether this is their fault or due to some schematic shift, but I would rather have Luke and Davis chasing the RB than Butler.   Adrian Peterson of 33 looked like AP of 27.  Thompson was not filling back side cutback lanes.

Those of you who want to see more jam and man coverage, you need to realize that the CBs in this defense are often contain--they have to face the LOS to do that.

This defense is not focused / prepared, and that has been the case a lot this season.  Yes, I blame the coaches and the players.    If we lost to a better team, I would take my lumps.  But that team had no business beating us-even after spotting them 10 point.

Greg Olsen was asked if not being able to practice indoors last week contributed to flat start. He doesn’t buy it. Said it’s easy to say that. Panthers have dealt with the current set up for years. And the bottom line in this league? “Nobody cares.”

Take notes Ron.

It's pretty pathetic when you've got players on this team with more of a backbone than our head coach.

This one is actually not on Ron, about the only one out of the presser

Tepper already made note in one of his first interviews about the poor or lack of indoor practice facilities.  Theyre practice in a hotel/convention center etc.

You can put that on Ol Jerry trying to save himself some $$$.  Less spending on the team and more $$$ in his pocket.

Glad that old fug is no longer our owner

That damn offsides penalty on Poe was inexcusable.  That killed us.  We go from forcing them to punt, to them making a long ass field goal.  Those 5 yards were super important.  Also, the 2 times KK and Poe killed us on false starts they were lining up outside as a Defensive End.  Havent seen us do that much in the past, and I think we need to retire it.

It's on Ron for making this an excuse. In Ron's press conference today, he literally pointed to the elements as an excuse.

My point is, Greg Olsen has more of a backbone than Ron Rivera. Ron won't man up and accept responsibility of the way this team is constantly under-prepared and under-performs.

That's a fact we all know he should simply say I didn't have my guys prepared as best as possible I'll do better period. It's scary ignorant Samuel wasn't in on at least his winded 12 snaps based off last week I think they only saw Moore get busy last week somehow guys Ron missed our best route running yac ability play making WR because what did we need to practice in inclement weather, why couldn't we run one or two plays we know he can do successfully based off last week. Unless he didn't see the plays Samuels made last week in that case I completely understand his assessment.

I see the offsides penalties as players who know this D requires the DL to get pressure and they're frustrated because they know they're not providing it so they're pushing extra hard.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
