Amari to Cowboys for a 1st Round Draft Pick

Bahaha... can't wait to hear the talking heads continue to take up for Dak after they go 8-8 again this year.

On the flip side, I really hate we aren't playing Oakland this year.  Obviously tanking, and probably the only real challenge to the Cardinals for the #1 pick

I'm pretty interested to see what Gruden does in next year's draft. He's dismantling the team and if he's a halfway decent drafter, he's going to have the opportunity to put together a team we haven't seen since the 1990's Cowboys. That would be amazing. I can't wait to see how he fugs it up.

Bet Jacksonville would like to have him about now.

He's better than Bortles, that's for sure. But, I don't think Jacksonville wants to (or is able to)  deal with that $100 million dollar contract Carr signed a couple of years ago.

So now that I have recovered from going braindead reading about this trade...

Some things which nearly caused me to stroke out when trying to consider wtf is going on.

A) Amari Cooper has 22 receptions for 280 yards, 1 TD.  Dallas gives up a 1st.  Josh Gordon has 14 receptions for 241 yards, 2 TDs.  Pats give up a 5th.

2) A 1st Rounder for Amari Cooper > Resigning Dez Bryant

III) Raiders now have THREE 1st round picks

e) Wasn't an issue the Cowboys didn't like with Dez was his drops?

    • Good review of the roster from some more neutral observers. They were not very high on the offense.
    • Also comparing the first 12 picks to the  rest of the draft is a silly comparison, 12 chances vs 245 chances to hit on a player.
    • The NFL is about parity.  There are few teams in the upper tier and a few bottom dwelling teams every season, every other team is in the middle. This version of the Panthers can be a fringe playoff team if, BIG IF, things goes their way.  First off health.  This goes for every team. It takes a special club to overcome a rash of injuries and still get into the playoffs.  Secondly, timing.  The Panthers have to catch a good team on a short week, with key injuries or some disruption to their team dynamic--like a dome team in the rain, for example.  Lastly, luck.  In order for the Panthers to get over the hump, things have to go their way in 2-3 games.  Things like a controversial call in our favor,  a DC going into prevent defense most of the 4th quarter, a fortunate (for us) turnover by the opposition while trying to seal a win etc...  This will be the difference in a 6 win Panthers team and 9 win squad this season.  I can't see us lower than 6 wins (short of the wheels completely falling off) because they roster has been getting better or higher than 9 wins simply due to Bryce's ceiling.
