people have been saying that for like 4 seasons yet they keep signing big splash players and it keeps working out for them.

Today I learned that 3 out of 4 seasons of 7-9 football means it "keeps working for them"

I'm just busting chops. I bet NO is where he wants to go, it's his home town isn't it?

Either way, I don't think it happens.

Bree’s has had 1 or 2 more good years for about 6 years now. He really looks like he’s not slowing down. And with his style of play and a skillful offensive guru who knows his personell, he might not slow down for a long time.

Peyton Manning was the MVP in 2013.

Two years later he had twice as many picks as touchdowns and was benched for Brock Osweiler.

Declines happen fast.

brees is on the decline, but it's hard to see because he and payton are intelligent enough to constantly tweak the offense and personnel to adjust to what he can and can't do.

He's from Florida, actually, but he went to LSU. He's a Louisiana legend.

unless im missing something everything ive seen is 14-17 in space for next year for the saints

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/2019/

Peterson will eat 11 of that leaving 3-6 mil

Teddy B will cost a min of 10 mil, could go closer to 12-13 mil.  I just dont see them easily to let him walk after just trading for him

They are now sitting 6-9 mil over the cap.

Not sure how much extending Drew will save but it may get it right close to even.

Then have no draft picks round 1-3 with holes at LB, TE (Watson while old is still a starting TE thats hitting FA backup TE Josh Hill is a FA, Teo is the starting MLB and hitting FA)

and now are all in on Kamara as him being 100% full time back as they wont be able to resign Ingram

Just too much to overcome for them to get him.

And yes just getting the compensation is even a bigger hurdle.  Peterson is arguably the top CB in the league (and lets not forget a stud returner)

Amari Cooper just was traded for a first and Petersons value is higher

Mack went for 2 first which Peterson wont go for, so probably something in between

Saints only have a 2nd to give

New Orleans is right there in the discussion...it needs to cost them a first.  Don’t see him winning them the NFC championship but it’s close.

If I am the Saints it is worth it.  Brees getting a send off Super Bowl is looking better and better for them.

That Ravens victory for them was extremely impressive.  Missed kick or not.

    • That was always the fear, expectation, concern, etc, I had.  Someone showed a still shot from his pick last game and said it showed that the defender closed 3 yards on that ball in the last portion of its flight. I forget the number. 10 yards I think it said but that sounds extreme.  When guys are open by a step, any slowing down to wait for the ball lets the defender back into the play. That sort of stuff makes the margins so small… these NFL CBs are not slow.   It is a league that highly values foot speed; the 40 times and drill times are scrutinized down to the hundredth of a second when evaluating these players on both sides of the passing game. Receivers and defenders both.   My thing with his arm strength (or anyone’s) was always “why do you want to do that? Plus pay extra picks to put yourself in that situation?”. Asking for trouble.     I wish there was a way to measure velocity on the back half of a throw compared to when it left the hand. Or really get accurate reading of the flight time of a ball from the near hash to the sideline, 10 yards down the field. Because teams could use that info. I have always seen this as being a disadvantage with Bryce but it is beyond my ability to quantify it.   I think it would show what that arm strength is really about, a lot more than just measuring how much air can you put under it so it will fly as far as possible.
    • Who didn't see that coming....
    • Its a detriment if he can't play...as we are seeing.
