David NewtonESPN Staff Writer

Panthers coach Ron Rivera doesn't believe in kneeling during the national anthem having grown up in a military family, but he doesn't interfere with safety Eric Reid's right to kneel. ‘'He's entitle to his opinion but I know what my rights are,'' said Reid, who has no plan to stop his protest against social injustice.

Panthers' Reid: Rivera doesn't have kneeling veto

Panthers safety Eric Reid, who has stated repeatedly he is simply exercising his First Amendment rights when he kneels during the national anthem, says coach Ron Rivera "doesn't have a choice" in not taking issue with the move.

Yeah this is just nonsense to stir a pot.  I don’t think this causes any turmoil in the locker room. Non issue.  I disagree with some personal things people that work for me do but it’s not my role to interfere or waste time being concerned about it as it has no impact on the work being done

Most adults can manage this without wasting brain cells

Also, it’s not disrespectful to the military or the flag.

people keep saying this and they could be right but over 30 of my ex-military friends (USAF and Army mostly) do not watch NFL anymore. And 12 of us use to be in a fantasy football league. So I know they were nfl fans. Plus at the VA I go to this was huge last year. SO maybe on a broad scale it may be looked at that way but my small sample says otherwise. As for me, I don't give a poo either way.  I lived through Carter, Reagan Bush, Clinton, Obama and I'll probably make it through Trump. Politics isn't my thing

    • Oh please with the wallowing in victimhood I'm going to take my ball and go home routine. You were just in here referring to people as super weird haters because they don't completely agree with your borderline delusional spin on what Bryce Young is and isn't as a fourth year starter. We can hope by some miracle that Bryce Young will actually be able to lead a formidable passing offense this season without being irrational homers and pretending verfiable data and what we have seen with our own two eyes doesn't tell us exactly what he has been to this point which is someone who moves the ball at a historically low rate.
    • I am curious who's behind all of this though. A video and photos from years ago surfacing? Someone has a vendetta and is driving this PR campaign. I'm loving it, but I'd also like to know who said mystery figure is.
    • I say positive things about Bryce when he earns them. Which he has a handful of times. It is all here and on the record but your lobby won’t focus on that or the flat out truth inside of our critical comments.  It is a constant thing with him and his backers - one or two good things and people are trying to extrapolate that to proof we should commit to him, while ignoring or making excuses for the larger portion of his track record.  When he is able to consistently turn in franchise QB extension worthy outings the tone of the posts will reflect that.  I have already said that if he would play like he did in the WC as often as we need him to, I would be okay with keeping him.  See you don’t want to talk about that though because it shows actual fair minded evaluation not stanning.
