You want to know why Moore and Samuel weren’t on the field together?

What station? I will look it up

The usual 610 Wfnz....the mac attack. I listen to them for a lil while on my way to work every morning for panthers talk. They were pointing how dumb of a response it was as well and they are usually pro Rivera.

On Curtis Samuel’s 11 snaps when he was out on a pass play, Cam threw it to him 7 times.

This, to me, is actually a problem.  A big problem.  You're now telling the defense "If Curtis is on the field, you better cover him because he's getting the ball".  Instead of having him out there, and forcing the defense to *constantly* pay attention to him, you're giving them a break.

I don't get it.  If a receiver gets open, catches the ball and gets massive YAC . . . what's the downside to using him as a decoy for CMC?  Look, I get it.  CMC, DJ and Curtis aren't big guys, you aren't going to scare anyone with your ability to run power with those guys all on the field.  Instead, you're going to absolutely terrorize defense with the concern that the little 3 yard dump off turns into 50+ *at any time*.

Moose suggested on the radio today that if Samuel played more, teams would game plan for him more and thus making him less effective.

If they "game plan for (Samuel) more" then guess what?

Because a defense only has a fixed number of 11 players, that means that they game plan for CMC and DJ (and Cam too) *less*.

I mean, you're just not allowed to add extra players to "game plan" for the new guy.

How many NFL offensive coordinators are spending sleepless nights "game planning" for Devin Funchess and/or Torrey Smith, ya think?

I agree there is some validity to it, I certainly am not suggesting it be the reason he/they shouldnt be on the field. Moore and Samuel are by far and away our best playmakers on the outside, the only two who dont go down as soon as they catch it. I would love for them to be on the field 90% of the snaps if it were feasible.

i heard in his presser yesterday...said if they are on field together it presents challenges as to who gets the ball

https://www.panthers.com/video/rivera-it-s-not-an-easy-game  starts at the nine minute mark, skip over the 83 "missed opportunities" quotes.

You can tell how uncomfortable he is talking about offense.   The fact that he talks about the offense as "they" says all you need to know.   He was asked if having 10 and 12 on the field at same time meant less time for someone like 17 and he said no, that if 10 and 12 are on the field at the same time "presents difficulties"  (9:30 mark) as to who gets the ball but then seemed to quickly realize that didn't make sense and immediately corrected it to " having both of them on the field doesn't mean they'll get the ball".

I'm not even sure what he's TRYING to say. Of course both of them on the field doesn't mean they will get the ball. CMC isn't guaranteed the ball and he's on the field 95% of the time. So what? Having them both on the field means our best WRs are stressing the defense. He's saying whatever it is he's saying to justify that they shouldn't be on the field at the same time or that it doesn't matter? Huh?

I don’t believe anything Ron says. He has no respect for the fans trying to pass of this BS for so long.

Moose suggested on the radio today that if Samuel played more, teams would game plan for him more and thus making him less effective. While I see what he is saying, it’s definitely worth the risk. It’s just so easy to plan for other guys who fall after the catch like uhm, 17.

Well Moose is pretty stupid. Does that mean you sit Antonio Brown 60% of snaps so teams cant game plan against him?

If you are too dense to see what the issue is with CMC's and Samuel's snap counts....you don't need to be on the sideline of an NFL franchise.

I'm fully on board the "moving on" train at this point.  We cannot hope to be able to stay with the offensive explosion that is coming with this man at the helm.

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
