The Perfect Week 14 to keep our playoff hopes alive

I did this last week and pretty much everything went our way, except the most important thing -- us winning. Anyways, I'll do this until the playoffs begin or we're officially eliminated.

Games that matter
Panthers at Browns - 1:00 PM
Giants at Redskins - 1:00 PM
Eagles at Cowboys - 4:25 PM
Vikings at Seahawks - MNF

Bold = Who to root for if you still want a playoff birth

Playoff Standings if all goes according to plan

Games with little impact
Saints at Buccaneers - 1:00 PM
Falcons at Packers - 1:00 PM
Rams at Bears - 8:20 PM

Games that don't matter
Jaguars at Titans
Ravens at Chiefs
Colts at Texans
Patriots at Dolphins
Jets at Bills
Bengals at Chargers
Broncos at 49ers
Steelers at Raiders

We actually have a realistic shot IF we can take care of Atl and Cle and get one of the Saints games.

Agreed. Despite the team forgetting how to win the last 4 weeks, the universe decided to keep us alive. The last 2 weeks were pretty much the NBA playoffs. Yeah, you can drop 1 or 2, but it's still possible to come back.

This week is pretty much sudden death for this team though. Lose it and you can all but kiss the season goodbye.

Sanchez is playing for washington now (lol).  Just need the Vikings to lose a couple and somehow finish 3-1.  Its now or never.

Vikings Remaining Games:
@ Seahawks
vs Dolphins
@ Lions
vs Bears

No actual gimmies in there. Just have to handle our own. Easier said than done as of late.

If you take our games out of the equation, we have a pretty realistic shot of making the playoffs.

Yeah if the season ended today and they swapped us for Washington b/c Buttfumble and then the head to head against Philly, they may let us in the college football playoff. But we'd be backing in and Oklahoma is sneaky.

Having been bored on a conference call, I had time to do this.  Here are the "in the hunt" teams for the wild card slots, their records, the record of their remaining opponents, and who their opponents are.  I don't know what it tells us other than if the Eagles manage to win their division or somehow grab a wild card, they will have earned it down the stretch.

All three NFCE teams are listed, even though one of them will elevate themselves off this list because the NFL will require that somebody wins the division.  I personally think the Redskins have a bigger hurdle than the Eagles because they are down to picking QBs off bar stools due to injuries.

Seattle (7-5, 21-26-1)

  • Minnesota (6-5-1)
  • At San Fran (2-10)
  • Kansas City (10-2)
  • Arizona (3-9)

Dallas (7-5, 21-27)

  • Philadelphia (6-6)
  • At Indy (6-6)
  • Tampa (5-7)
  • At NY Giants (4-8)

Minnesota (6-5-1, 25-23)

  • At Seattle (7-5)
  • Miami (6-6)
  • At Detroit (4-8)
  • Chicago (8-4)

Panthers (6-6, 28-19-1)

  • At Cleveland (4-7-1)
  • New Orleans (10-2)
  • Atlanta (4-8)
  • At New Orleans (10-2)

Philadelphia (6-6, 33-15)

  • At Dallas (7-5)
  • At LA Rams (11-1)
  • Houston (9-3)
  • At Washington (6-6)

Washington (6-6, 20-28)

  • NY Giants (4-8)
  • At Jacksonville (4-8)
  • At Tennessee (6-6)
  • Philadelphia (6-6)

    • To be fair, I kind of like Bo but he was BAD this past weekend.
    • What I noticed was Tmac running free on deep routes a lot. Can we just get PJ or Hooker to throw go routes on every play for the rest of the season? It would be more exiting than this current mess.
    • We're all aware of the frustrating Week 1 for Carolina, but there's reasons to see Arizona as a possible get-right game. While this will be Zona's home opener (requiring the team to travel out west), they were barely able to hold on to a lead against the hapless Saints who got a chance to tie the game up with 2min left that ended at the ARI 18. Kyler Murray was 21/29 with 2 passing TDs but for only 163yds (5.6yd AVG) and a QBR of 50.9 (RTG 108.8). He was also sacked five times for 33yds. Meanwhile, Spencer Rattler went 27/46 and was sacked just once for 6yds. Kyler also carried the ball seven times for 38yds. James Conner struggled to get going (12 carries, 39yds) but Trey Benson had a good day thanks to a 52yd scamper (8 carries, 69yds). Arizona has weapons in MHJ and McBride, but the CBs have been playing well enough for McBride to be the true focus of the defense. MHJ had a good game though against the Saints, so hopefully Jaycee + Mike Jackson can disrupt that connection. The Cardinals also aren't a disciplined team... with an opportunity to put the Saints away they gave up a TFL and a holding penalty before having the field goal attempt blocked. Their OL suuuuucks at run blocking and got better pass blocking from their TEs in week 1 than they did from any OL except for Paris Johnson Jr. Isaiah Adams and Hjalte Froholdt especially had issues as did Jonah Williams. If the Panthers' revamped DL can't get pressure against them it might be worth giving the alarm a pull.
